Hi there. My husband has Lyme disease (and Bart and Babs) and he has been rifing for 6 months now with some improvement. We have recently moved into a new house and I have found several very tiny black spots on myself which I am worried are ticks! They are so small it is really hard to see so I've taken photos of them and can't see legs but see a small brown pocket or case for lack of a better word. Can anyone advise me if I can send the photos or upload them somewhere to get someones opinion on whether or not they are ticks (or some other critter?). Thanks in advance.

Daisie

I have no idea how to post a photo. Sorry. This may help, though:

My local doctor put one of the tiny ones under a microscope and you could then see the legs, mouth parts, etc. UGLY! He had never seen one so small. It was just walking along my arm when I caught it.

If you have access to a microscope, maybe even a strong magnifying glass, that would help to decide what it is.

The nymphs can be as small as poppy seeds. will pm.
If you know you've had a tickbite, you need to treat as if you have Lyme, IMO.

If you have the critters in a plastic bag, move them to a glass jar or heavy plastic container with a tight seal and freeze them.

Some ticks have chewed their way out of plastic bag.

Have you removed them? Have you tried looking at them with a magnifying glass?

A simple way to share photos is to go to http://min.us

Drag a photo from your computer on to the page, and copy the "Gallery link" it gives at the bottom of the page. Then just paste this link into your forum post.

What's the correct way to remove a tick that small?

The best way to remove a tick is with tweezers by grasping the mouthparts as close to the skin as possible and pulling straight back.

Save the tick in a Ziploc bag. It can be tested for disease at IgeneX Lab in Palo Alto, CA.
