Dr. B's well known protocol recommends Mag Tab SR over standard Magnesium(I normally use Nature's Bounty 500 mg magnesium, widely available at Walgreens, etc).
Is there any difference? If so, how much Mag Tab should I tak per day? Thanks for any info.

Extended release.
I take em - I bought the 1000 tab one and it lasts forever.
I'm also imploring more options in terms of transdermal magnesium (mag oil, mag baths, foot baths w/ mag)

i take 2-4 tablets a day. Doesn't do a thing for me. Canefan17, how much does a 1,000 ct bottle cost?

Mike30,
There's a big difference between the Nature's Bounty brand and Mag Tab SR, which I too didn't realize at first.
The Nature's Bounty brand is magnesium oxide, which is not absorbed well by the body--it pretty much goes right through you.
Mag Tab's are magnesium L-lactate, which is better absorbed. I switched to Mag Tab's back in the fall and have noticed a decrease in muscle twitching and cramping and tingling. My hypoglycemia has also been better (I think that it resulted from a pretty bad magnesium deficiency).
I think it was worth switching.
I'm glad that

Just noticed your second question.
I'm currently taking three Mag Tab's per day. The dosage recommended on the bottle is 1 or 2 caplets twice per day.
Also forgot to mention that I'm also using magnesium oil. Supposedly that is absorbed even better than oral magnesium.

I have not found a magnesium compound that doesn't work, including MgO. Only take magtab at night along with other Mg, so it lasts thru the night. Magtab is more expensive, which is why I use other types too.
