I did Mebendazole for 3 days and am supposed to start the 2nd part of the treatment tonight (another 3-day course). I believe Albendazole is more systemic. The Mebendazole was a hell of a ride by dose #5 - uncontrollable shivering, fatigue and more. Nothing ever showed in the toilet. Don't know as usual what to make of it. Some thought allergic reaction. My LLMD said no and said continue. Again, all speculation.

Good luck.

i just read my own post again and realized i left out a major part of my question, my head is so bad right now.thanks seekhelp for responding,so yesterday i took 200mg of abendazole and withing 6 hrs i had bloating and weird stinging sensations througout certain parts of body and even two areas of my intestines that always bother me.this morning i got up my stomach did feel well but the worst headache came does remind me of headaches i had with undiagnosed fear is that if there are parasites do the herbs just scatter them about?i am almost feeling safer with the herbs because this rxn to the albenza is pretty intense. i am afraid to take throat is sore is bringing back memories of how sick i got when i first started antibiotics.i really wish my head would stop hurting.keep me posted seekhelp

Ivermectin did nothing for me. Albendazole hit something major because my liver swelled up when I took it. The first round was for 2 or 3 weeks. Then later another 2 weeks and now if I don't pulse my eosinophils go up. If I keep treating eosinophils remain normal.

Herbs did nothing for me and I was on them for a year but I did not do humaworm because I didn't know about it at the time. Some of us may have to play around until we get the right meds.

Stool testing for parasites is inaccurate. My stool samples showed nothing and I had it done repeatedly but I did have antibodies and I do have a reaction to treatment so I do have some sort of parasite or something that is treated with albenza.

Years ago one of our dogs was tested repeatedly for worms. On one occassion we had just gotten back from the vet who told us that our dog was free and clear of worms. She got to the top of the stairs and threw up a huge pile of worms. GROSS!!

I tried biltricide (another anti-parasitic) but that made me very ill. I think I had a huge problem with parasites at the time.

According to Alan MacDonald, borrelia is a parasite (it lives off a host) but it is not treated the same as worms although there was some talk at one time that biltricide might help lyme treatment. I think they were speculating the cysts might be killed.

Many people have been unknowingly infected with parasites (worms). U.S. doctors rarely check for parasites unless they are ND's or holisticly oriented.

seek- I have never seen a parasite in my stool but I know I have them. The fact that you had symptoms that don't appear to be side effects of the medication seems to indicate that you do have an infection. My allergies are so much better since treating for parasites. If only I could get rid of them.

Good luck to you both.

i have 2 cats and a dog but for the past 10 yrs have sheltered up to 6 animals at a time.yes i had to deworm and am pretty sure that it is impossible to keep up with the whole worm thing.i have handled unvaccinated animals and cleaned up stool messes which made me think about my exposure to other things other than lyme.i have woken up in the middle of the night with my cat enjoying my cup of water.just think where her paws have been, grandmother was always worried about the animals and i never did.i am not sure if it is everything but i do believe that our immune symstems may not be alble to fight off as many things as others.i am not sure about this albenza though,i am also having some shortness of breath but how many times has that happened with lyme meds.alot.the first time i treated my thrush with diflucan i thought i was going to friggin die.i could not breath,at least it felt like that i had stomach pain palpatations took me splitting the diflucan piece by piece until i could handle it.the die off was terrible.thanks again for the replies and please keep posting if you have taken ivermectin or albenza.
