Is there a more recent children's symptom list since 07?

I had mentioned to my LLMD the rash on my daughter's hand. She said to have her tested for RMSF immediately. I'm actually thinking she may have lyme.

Her symptoms are (they have slowly developed since November--when she had a cat scratch/bite):

Night time anxiety (cries at night, is afraid of robbers). Has always been a good sleeper--husband thinks she is just too smart and thinks too much.

Heart murmur--newly diagnosed, never had this before.

Complains about rib pain and gets an occasional headache. Occasionally, she says she feels feverish and wants to take her temperature. Usually turns up normal.

Now a rash on hand that is not dry skin, more like raised pinkness. Is very smooth, does not look like typical RMSF pictures.

I have a consult with Pediatrician's office on Thursday. She is seeing counselor for anxiety. Is this enough to get her to LLMD?

Also, she's been on 30 days of amoxy after cat scratch. Then, was put on Bactrim for 30 days. Is not on anything now.

Had strep twice last year. Is there any way to rule out PANDAS?

Other symptoms I forgot: cold sores in her mouth, very thirsty at night.

Did you see the lists here??

I'm not sure if there is a children's list there or not.

It says "compiled...07". I completely forgot to put on my typed list for the doctor, my daughter made a comment the other day that she almost choked on her spit. If I recall, that's a lyme symptom. Not that a regular pediatrician would believe me.

Thanks ticksick. I think I've seen that before, but I'll read it again.

Cat scratch fever is another name for Bartonella. It can be transmitted by cat scratches or by ticks. It can cause rib pain, headache, anxiety, and weird skin manifestations.

If it is cat scratch fever/bartonella, then why didn't the amoxy and bactrim clear it up?

Because the primary drugs that target Bartonella isn't Amoxy. Bactrim has some effect. But the best drugs are:

Levaquin
Rifampin with Zith, Biaxin or Doxy

I can speak from experience...my 3 young children have had lyme and all coinfections and there was no rash...just a very slow accumulation of symptoms.

I do think that is plenty of info to get her to an LLMD...but you might also consider the alternative route first...get some ART testing done or electrodermal screening by a LLND or lyme literate practitioner...those things can detect lyme and coinfections in a noninvasive way. It is really unbelievable what exists out there and how accurate it really is.

Also you can treat with herbs...we did 2 years of abx with my kids and they improved but then plateaued. It was the Nutramedix herbs that got rid of the lyme/coinfections we think. But they are still recovering from the abx...stomach issues now. So I wish I had tried herbs first.

2 of 3 of my kids cried and whined during their sleep at night, and had much more anxiety and had more nightmares/terrors. One developed terrible insomnia. This went away with treatment. Heart issues are very common with lyme, but mine didn't have them as far as I know. One did have rib pain, however and his heart would beat like crazy when he ran around. They all had headaches which were occasional and then turned to constant.

Amoxy is not used for bart. Bactrim did nothing for bart in my kids. Rifampin helped quite a bit but couldn't get rid of it. It was the herbs Cumanda and Samento (with Burbur for detox) that got rid of it.

Hope this helps,

Thanks tickbatter. Their hands look better today, nothing on the feet. The little one has slept in her bed the last two nights so we are making progress.

I don't know how I would convince my husband that herbs would work. He is a skeptic at best. My brain is so fried I can't comprehend it, at least not yet.

So...lab work is finally coming in. She has a high ASO titer, pediatrician wants her to see pediatric neurologist for PANDAS. So, while we wait patiently for llmd appt, we'll see neurologist. All other bloodwork negative but they said I could pick it up as the next doc would need it.
