My doc just started treating bartonella. I had gotten sick right before the medicaiton switch, so im not sure which caused my pain to skyrocket, but it's back ...really bad all over horrific pain and stiffness.

My anxiety is through the roof, and I have lower leg/ankle edema pretty bad, and muscle twitches. I have the shortest fuse also, feeling so angry and emotional.

Also, having major doubts about this whole thing, what if this isn't even lyme and i really have RA or something else?

I have a strong family hx of RA, but also lived in a highly endemic area for lyme. So im not even sure if those family members really had lyme. I remember pulling ticks off my cousin when we were little.

Discouraged, and tired of the up and down feelings. Any suggestions for the edema? and also anyone experience similar symptoms when switching meds/treating bart?

I don't have edema, but do have bart----muscle twitches (especially in calf muscles) and burning skin. Been trying to get rid of it for 5 years---my Doc says the only relatively "sure" cure abx for Bart is Levaquin (4 to 6 months) and I can't take Levaquin. I have been on many abx & the muscle twitches & burning skin don't seem to change much. Sorry i can't be of more help. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your bart issues bv. My doc never said levaquin is the only way to treat it?? Im on ceftin, zith and will start rifampin in a few weeks.

My burning skin went away when I first started treatment with doxy and zith. I haven't tried IV's, just orals.

I do notice a slight burning skin feeling again, but nothing as bad as it used to be. Thankful that isnt back.

I don't understand why im having ankle edema all of a sudden. My ankes were twice the size...it's freaking me out. Sent an email to my doc.
