Hi all,

Haven't been here in a very long time. But have a few questions for those who have been or are on Tindamax.

Trying to determine if this is a herx or a bad reaction to the tini and what to do either way.

I have treated Lyme and co-infections for the past 2 years. I was symptom free recently for several months so we tried dropping Probenecid from my protocol. However, I relapsed quickly after dropping this so we added it back and within 6 weeks I was again symptom free.

After meeting with my LLMD again, he added in Tindamax 500 mg 2xday every day of the week until I see him again in two months.

I am currently on Probenecid, Biaxin, Ceftin and Tindamax

It has now been 8 days since adding in the tini and today I feel worse than when I first started treatment, with the addition of paplitations and horrible anxiety and tinnitus. How long were you all on tini before noticing a worsening of symptoms if at all? I also worry about allergic reaction as my tongue and nose feel swollen and tingly. But maybe it's nothing. Who knows anymore. I don't want to stop taking it if it's doing it's job, but I can't do too many days like this one. And if I'm truly allergic I'd like to stop this now before it gets any worse. Just dont' quite know what to do.

Anyone else experienced this? Wondering if I should tough it out or half the dose or give it up for now. I know I need to break up the cysts but this seems extreme.

How long have you all stayed on tini or flagyl? Any guidlines for how long it takes to knock down the cystic form of Lyme with these drugs?

Also wondering if I might tolerate flagyl better - anyone else have a bad time with tini and switch to flagyl with better luck?

Just more of the same, trial and error and try and live through it. It's getting old. Any input appreciated!

I only take it two days a week. I quit it for a while because it is a tough drug - makes me herx like crazy. Now I am able to tolerate it again.

Three of us doing fine on it now. Some herxing in the beginning. I switched my days so that I would herx on the weekends and not the work week so I took it Thursday and Friday.

The combination of Tindamax/Tinidazole and Rifampin gave me the hives from hell.

I took flagyl every day for 2 months at the end of my lyme treatment. One month it was combined with amoxi and probenicid, and the last month by itself (took levaquin for bart that 2nd month). That's how I got rid of lyme.

That was 7 years ago. No relapse.

TF taht is how my LLMD treats lyme. He gives the cyst buster at the end of treatment too? After all of his years treating lyme I guess he knows best.

I also know Aimee that he would stop that med for a few days until your herx or reactions is better and surely not continue it for fear of permanent damage. He then may try it in a much lower dose at another time. He usually introduces all meds one pill every other day for two weeks and gradually increases them by the way you are feeling.

I would call him and ask if you can reduce the amount or stop for a few days. I know that it is a very strong drug and causes severe herxing.
