Anybody have a negative Igm only + was 41 and IGG was 41 +++ 39 IND and two others +'s that I don"t have access to right now and can't remember. I know they were ones that don't have the stars beside them on Igenex.

What does this mean?? Seriously doubting diagnosis, Babs Fish was negative.

Please help me I am so confused and won't talk to doctor for another 2 weeks.

Thanks

Lots of people have negative IgG's ... doesn't matter. Can you post all of the bands for your IgG?

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.

Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.

But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.

Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result.

Response to antibiotics is the same if either is positive, or both.
Some antibodies against the borrelia are given more significance if they are IgG versus IgM, or vice versa."

But I have a completely negative IgM except band 41. if I had an ongoing infection, reproducing itself wouldn't something show on IgM?

Both were considered negative by Igenex I guess if on my IgG band 39 would have been + instead of IND along with band 41 which was +++ would that have made me Igenex positive or does both Igm and Igg have to have 2 +'s?

I am so upset I just spent a fortune at an LLMD and now don"t know what to think.

Thanks again

I would NOT ignore this if you are having symptoms (I assume you ARE!).

39 is the most specific band there is, except for the DNA of the Bb.

And unless you have gum disease, the +++ on 41 is pretty indicative that it's lyme. What other bands showed up?

It's important to note that this is NOT true! Band 41 comes up positive in a majority of healthy population, very insignificant band.

I can't remember what bands and the letter is at home. I have been very ill for 3 year, clinically diagnosed and been on abx for 2 years. I will post the bands when I get home. ANybody know why IgM would be negative only band 41.

Thanks again

As I always say, Lyme Disease is a "clinical" diagnosis. The test are only used to back up the clinical diagnosis.

For me, I started treatment with no bands positive and over time band 41 showed up, then band 23 and by labcorp standards I became IGM CDC positive after a whole year of treatment.

Having only certain bands show up, does not mean you do not have LD.

And my LLMD DID consider band 41 significant, along with me having symptoms of LD. You put the two together and its a pretty good indication of LD.

the bands that show + are bands 30+ 39IND 41+++ 45+ that was on IgG. Only band 41 on IgG.

I'm still not understanding the difference between the 2 tests.

Thank you for the answers

I had to sign on a new account because I couldn't get on my other one. So hopeforhealth and miapiaface are both me

My symptoms are burning pain in back, knees, feet etc., muscle twitching, racing heart, shortness of breath, hair loss, severe aching legs, these are just a few. Just wanting some peace of mind.

Lyme, bart, babs. Tests are not accurate. Keep treating and don't forget supplements, probiotics, etc. Sounds like there could be some hormonal influence too. Perhaps have your primary test that.

You'll get better.
