Ok, this doctor has got to go!!!

[rant]

First his non-educated remarks about co-infections.

Second not wanting to treat co-infections until??

Third only treating my Lyme that I have had I think for over 20 years ( Definitive symptoms for 13) with only one abx ...Bicillin LA

Now, as i happen to glance at the shots in my fridge.... they are Bicillin CR. Not the Bicillin LA that I got last week.

I called and talked to the nurse. I asked if this was done on purpose? She said yes. The doctor wanted to start me on Bicillin LA the first week, and now it will be Bicillin CR.

Maybe most patients don't care about a medication change? I do. I expect to know. I should have looked at the syringes more closely before I was injected yesterday. I saw that it was Bicillin, but it didn't register in my brain that it wasn't bicillin LA.

I feel like I am constantly ranting... Ok, I am constantly ranting. I will be proactive today and research some new doctors!!

GRRRR ... [cussing]

What is the difference between the two?

The amount of actual med in them The LA version is more potent.

and the LA form is the one that lasts the longest..
it is the preferred form for treating Lyme as it builds up in the system. It's not a huge difference... but still..

The CR form releases more rapidly into the body, and is gone faster. It does still stay about I beleive about7-10 days.

But the LA version is a more steady release, it is more potent, and it stays longer. Building with each new injection.
-------------------------------------------------
Bicillin L-A 1.2 contains 1.2 mu (1,200,000) of PENICILLIN G BENZATHINE and no other penicillin's such as penicillin g sodium or penicillin g procaine.

Bicillin C-R 1.2 mu contains 2 penicillin's, 900mu (900,000) of PENICILLIN G BENZATHINE and 300 (300,000) mu of penicillin g procaine.

For Lyme disease the preferred Penicillin G injection is Bicillin L-A because it contains more PENICILLIN G BENZATHINE than Bicillin C-R

The LA form is also the most expensive, so maybe that's why he switched...there is no generic.
but I should have been told.

That's just stupid. I've never heard of anyone on this board (10 yrs +) who was given bicillin CR. That's why I asked the difference .. I've never heard of it.
