I was on abx for around 7 months after being diagnosed 6 months into illness... In march and april I was able to run two miles lift every night and feel well.

On April 30th around 4-5 weeks symptom free and my birthday I decided to go off abx... I literally felt great that day mood was excellent energy excellent no pain... I left work feeling fine.

Now I did have around two drinks of alcohol that night but I had been completely sober for over a year and the whole time treating. The next day I ran my best two miles yet and my friend took me out for lunch... I will admit I probably had a few to many drinks that day... I didn't get drunk but for just stopping I should have waited I think.

Well needless to say this week I have felt terrible. Mostly to my stomach... I never had a single stomach issue while on abx but it has just been killing me this past week.

I did an experiment this morning I ate a light breakfast and I usually eat every two hours... Well today I waited all the way till lunch to eat and all morning had almost no problems besides a lil arm pain. After lunch though I just crashed stomach hurt and felt sick and back neck and arms just ached... It felt like when I got yeast problems on flagyl.

So is there anyway to stop this. Should I go back on abx and see if it gets better? I was on doxy for over 16 weeks before I decide to go off. It doesn't really feel like lyme as right now I have a headache and I don't think I ever had a headache from Lyme.

Did your doctor tell you to stop abx? Usually they want a couple MONTHS of symptom-free before you stop.

IMO, you shouldn't drink for about a year after treatment. I tried a few times before the year and it just wasn't good. I'm not a doctor, but I found in my experience, my body needed a year.

hodge .. First try the anti-yeast diet and maybe ask your dr for some Diflucan .. or treat with olive leaf extract.

If you feel better in a few days, you will KNOW what is going on.

Not eating and then feeling better sounds like yeast to me.

Excellent probiotics:

Whatever you take, take at least 100 CFU's per day. Wish someone had told me that 10 yrs ago!

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

It sure sounds like you got a yeast infection to me. Alcohol is pure sugar. As soon as you stopped antibiotics, you gave your digestive tract pure sugar. That is guaranteed to give you yeast.

When I completed my treatment, my lyme doc required me to stay on the anti-yeast diet for 1 more month while he restored the normal flora to my gut. I took diflucan, Florastor and nystatin while having no sugar or carbs.

After that month, I was free to eat what I liked.

You see, your antibiotics have killed all the good flora in your gut. The day after you stop them, your gut is still in this same shape. It can't take sugar until you have restored the normal gut flora. Takes a month to do that.

So, treat yeast now and no more drinking for a while.

Here is a quote from "The Lyme Disease Solution":

"Avoid alcohol completely during lyme treatment and for at least three to six months after you go off of antibiotics. While I prefer that you abstain permanently, if you are going to drink alcohol, please limit yourself to one to two glasses of wine (or one to two beers) per day after the threee-to-six-month abstinence period has been completed." (p. 223)

Alcohol weakens your immune system, so it can cause you to relapse, especially if used immediately after completing lyme treatment.

I started running a low grade fever never got above 100 so called the doc... My doc is so great he took the call off hours and on his own phone...

Since the fever started now has gone we are going to get a full review of my week on Monday and maybe do babs treatment...

I did break a lot of my yeast rules this week so going to attack that hard. My stomach is just soooo sick feeling and I never had stomach issues on abx... Also have a huge canker sore which caused my lymph node to swell.

No fever right now after drinking a lot of water but my stomach literally feels like it's burning.

I will get better! I have a great girl friend and I have to do this for her... My ex dumped me cause I couldn't go out and drink and this girl actually gave up drinking for me since I couldn't... I will get better again and it's in thanks to all you and my doctor!

Please keep the ideas and support coming!

Thanks... So do you think I should go on babs treatment or yeast I haven't felt like this in months... No more alcohol for at least a year after treatment.

What babs symptoms do you have? If you were symptom free before drinking, this is probably yeast.

You don't have to quit drinking forever, only until you are well and then for a period until your stomach is restored. I'd give this as much time as you can. Minimum 3 months. One year if you could.

Woke up this morning feeling ok... Took what probiotics I had last night I'm out of town so I will have to find a whole foods somewhere in Memphis... Ate two eggs for breakfast and started taking my nystatin again. No fever this morning.

I had air hunger and night sweats 7 months ago but those went away with Lyme treatment. My doc was just going off the low grade fever to start babs but last night I felt like I had the stomach flu.

Exactly. You could buy some olive leaf extract.

I find it difficult to know if I was ever symptom free how do you tell... I had some anxiety and depression but I was running again and lifting. How does one even tell the difference between yeast, lyme and babs? I know there's no real answer to that question but I find it so confusing.

Been taking as many probiotics as possible did about 200 cfu yesterday along with apple cider vinegar and absolutely no sugar and feel much better today. Still going to call the doc on Monday but yesterday temp only got to 99.5 at that was at 6 pm when your temp is the highest anyway. Going to stick to the high dose probiotics for the next couple days and may consider babs treatment if the fever comes back.

Did anyone else ever have a low grade fever from yeast issues...

Doctor is sending me a prescription for Difulcan and told me to stick to my diet if this doesn't work going back into Lyme treatment....

Feeling tired today but ate wrong again yesterday and ran a 5k... Hoping thus Difulcan can put me back were I was and don't have to go back into lyme/babs treatment...

Never drinking again haha
