I have hard time following a very low fat diet or vegan diet even though I believe in them..so is anyone having success with this? It has become highly recommended for defeating biofilms. I love nuts, seeds and nut butters and I like to cheat now and then so really low fat is tough!

I don't believe in doing low fat. Not unless you are having GB or pancreatic problems. You NEED good fats.

You can get your good fats and still be low fat. Dr. F says you have to go low fat or almost no fat for a period of time to be free of this or these diseases.

I have placed myself ( Dr. never mentioned this ) on a diabetic diet . It makes all the difference [Smile]

I'm doing a low fat diet, but it isn't too hard because I never really ate too many fattening foods to begin with. I still eat good fats.

Good fats allow the body to regenerate, help lower cholesterol, increase your metabolism while helping to burn body fat and increases health overall. So we do need some fats.

I usually eat around 10-15% of my total calories for the day in fats. This works out to about 20-25 grams for the day. I only eat about 1500-1800 calories/day.

you could try eating a certain percentage, like say 20% of your total calories for the day can come from fat.

I was a vegan years ago, and finally had to give it up because I couldn't eat right no matter how hard I tried. I was only 88lbs, all skin and bones, and just didn't look good. So I'm not really keen on the vegan thing! Lol.

How many grams of fat were you told to eat? Were you given a number or percentage?

I was low-fat vegan for 14 years and felt better on that diet than any other.

I'm moving more toward that way of eating again, though I do some dairy in limited amounts still (it's one of the only protein sources that I somewhat tolerate anymore).

Since I have type A blood, this diet isn't a problem for me. And I don't do well with a high protein diet. But I know the O blood type might have more difficulty with a vegan diet because they tend to need more protein and less carbs.

I ate mostly vegan for years (I didn't claim to be a vegan, I just tended towards avoiding animal products), but when I was sick I found I needed animal products daily. I felt MUCH better when I added more in my diet.

I have never eaten low fat. I eat only good fats, but I get a lot of them.

Dr. K believes a person who avoids animal products won't be able to detoxify properly. I've also read articles on how someone who is chronically ill has higher protein needs.

Oddly enough, when I was sick I drank milk daily, ate meat daily, ate eggs daily. Now that I'm well, I tend towards more of a vegan diet .... but since I also tend towards anemia, I do make sure I eat meat a couple times per week. I get lattes with regular milk when I'm out, but use coconut milk when I'm home.

I think what's best is to listen to your body.

BTW, I'm also type A, which may be why I naturally tend towards eating vegan.

Can you give an example? I have heard a lot of different takes on a diabetic diet.

I hear ya and that is good news. Dr. F of F labs in Arizona says that and so do other LLMDs who use F Labs also say that. I am glad you said that because I hate eating ultra low fat. I like my nuts and seeds! [Smile]

I have been into bodybuilding for a long time and been a health nut half my life so I have always tried to eat only good fats, but Dr. Fry was the one who said even good fats are bad because they increase the strength of biofilms. How accurate he is...I have no idea! I do know he gets people better.

I was actually at my heaviest when I was vegan for 5 years. Why? because it is all about calories in vs calories out. As a weight lifter I had to know where I got my protein and I knew plenty so I had no problems. [Smile] I was 225 and belonged to a vegan bodybuilding club. I still do mostlt vegan. Eating vegan has nothing to do with being skinny as long as you eat enough calories, eat nutrient dense food and eat the correct foods to get all of your amino acids. I was strict vegan for 5 years, was 225 and bench pressed 325 lbs.

A lot of the nutrition text books I have say you detox best on a vegetarian diet.

I am type A, an oddly enough I consider myself a semi vegetarian, because I just don;t like much meat....but I don;t believe in the blood type diet thing - there is little to no science behind it.

I tried this when I first got sick and didn't know what I was sick with. I really like eating vegan. I actually felt healthier but I also crave PROTEIN and felt like passing out when I didn't have it. I stick with organic, humane eggs and fresh/not farm raised fish.

I just looked up blood type AB diet and it said fish, tofu, yogurt and greens so Its funny how I feel best on that.

Not sure about the low fat since Im on Mepron.
