I stopped abx two weeks ago... First week I got the flu or stomach virus now I am in southern California and have a head cold... Symptoms no fever, just runny nose and soar throat muscles are a lil achy but nothing I can't deal with... Had none of these symptoms during Lyme treatment

I haven't started taking my Difulcan for yeast yet... I don't want to feel any worse while I'm out here... But has anyone else had this happen... It's like my body is relearning how to fight viruses all over again.

Have you been checked for leaky gut syndrome? Could be a possible offshoot of abx therapy see this booklet it's excellent http://www.amazon.com/Leaky-Gut-Syndrome-Elizabeth-Lipski/dp/0879838248

Keep in mind that co-infections can flare very soon after stopping treatment. Lyme takes longer. I have no idea if that is what is going on but you may want to contact your LLMD's office and make them aware of what is happening.

You can have co-infections like bartonella even if you tested negative. I did. Too many strains that are not tested for.

You might want to consider getting your Vitamin D levels checked. Vitamin D helps us fight viral infections naturally.

I'm probably going to go back on... I don't know if this is a virus or what but it's kicking my booty... Never had anything like this during Lyme treatment or even before Lyme treatment.

Nothing at all like lyme symptoms... Headache, sore throat, chills, runny nose...

I have heard that abx drop T cell levels. I would suggest you ask your doctor about this and if it is possible that longterm abx therapy might have dropped those levels.

If so this explains why you are having these problems.

And if so then I would think that to go back on to abx is only to keep the cycle going deeper downhill.

I could be wrong and I don't know for a fact. I am merely asking questions out loud, as a layperson. This is not medical advice, only questions to ask your doctor.

There are ways to support T cell and other immune cell productions, naturally. See links above. These are written by world-top herbalists and no slouches.

Best wishes, CI

Woke up today feeling much better... Just sinus and a lil scratchy throat...

I hope this is the last of it... Going to get a lot of rest today and hopefully spend all of tomorrow on the beach soaking up some vitamin d haha.

Going to talk to my doctors office if it gets bad again... But maybe I just need to fight a few viruses.

Still scared to start taking my Difulcan.

Thanks Chiquita... I only have my phone because I'm out of town so to look at all the links is a lil difficult... Also don't have a car readily available...

I agree both times I've gotten sick in the last two weeks feel nothing like Lyme or co-infections to me but viruses... This one started just like everyone describes a cold lil scratchy throat then symptoms grew to nose eyes now they are subsiding or so I hope...

Oh well keep the links coming and thanks for the help

I had asked a similar question to our Dr. M. here in BC.. This is a copy of the post:

Finished treatment, much better but now catching colds....
 on: April 30, 2011, 10:13:00 PM Quote

My adult daughter finished antibiotic treatment 5 months ago and is doing very well, however, she is now catching one cold after another.. This is very unusual for her as she rarely caught anything before and when she did it would only last a couple of days. Can anyone relate?

Dr. M., have you witnessed this before and what are your thoughts on this?

If the colds are truly viral one must suspect a diminished immunity from the Lyme disease.
The adrenal gland can often be damaged and tests can be done to see if there is a dysfunction.
If the symptoms are primarily from Lyme disease we must suspect a recurrance of this disease.
A CD57+ can be done at Labcorp to see the status of this test indicates the possibility of
a spirochetal or other infection.

A Western blot IgM for Borelia burgdorferi can help to assisst to see if an acute infection is present.
Upper respiratory infections and allergies can mimic viral infections .
An immunologist can be consulted if this condition persists.

Hi L.,

This was very much my daughter's experience. While she was very ill with Lyme and coinfections very strangely (because she had a sister then in daycare who brought home a lot of viruses) she did not have any observable colds. We'd all be coughing and miserable and she would simply look a bit more pale and be a little more tired.

My theory (and I sure would like to see an immunologist study it somehow) is that with Lyme she still got the colds only her immune system couldn't mount a defense). One of the signs of X.'s recovery was that she began to get slight colds -- once she was off treatment it was one cold after another, but she eventually regulated. She began to relapse in the fall and one thing that happened was a cold/infection she simply couldn't shake until after she went back on treatment. So, I think there is some relationship between colds and whatever happens to immunity with Lyme.

I've heard a lot of stories from other Lymies who say while they were sick with Lyme they never had a single cold, so there does seem to be something going on.

Thank you Dr. M. and L. for your responses. I do believe it is an immune response that is causing this to happen. She is feeling so much better than when she was treating, just getting some pesky dry throat and mild cough symptoms. Nothing that is keeping her at home just at night seem to act up. It's been 10 days and she's improving alot. I was hoping it meant that her immune system is finally kicking back in and starting to work as it should.

I do think getting another cd57 and possibly a western blot IGM is a good idea. I am curious to see what her results would be.

That's another reason I love my rife machine.

Virus cold or flu I use my rife and kill it down. Usually a few treatments will put it away.

I use my machine for so many other things besides lyme & co. If my husband feels something coming on, he says run the machine on me.

He really has surprised me with taking time to sit still and ask for treatments. I've told him, I don't know what you feel in your body.

You must let me know and I'll try figure out what you need. Of course he has been tick bite twice, abx, healed(?) and many times he's in the living room and I'm running my rife for myself but.....

he's getting the freqs too. I want to make sure this man never collaspes. He's a rock.

Pam
