What are your thoughts about stopping meds for lyme/bart to deal with candida and heavy metals?

I have been treating for 5 full months and have been on Flagyl, Rifampin and Ceftin most recently. My LLNP is ready for me to stop meds anyway but I stayed on Flagyl/Rifampin since I had a few weeks worth left and wanted to get to 5 full months (and hoping my CD57 will get over 100).

She did change the Ceftin (which I ran out of) to Amoxy so right now I am taking Flagyl, Rifampin and Amoxy.

I am feeling really good especially since having my amalgams out (my head is so much more clear). The fatigue is really just about gone. I get tired around 2ish each day but have pretty good energy.

I do have candida symptoms and wonder if I should stop all the meds including amoxy and focus on clearing it along w/ heavy metals. I thought I could continue to have my CD57 taken to see if it improves (every month it has gone up) and if not then maybe use that as a sign to go back on meds (unless I have symptoms, but throughout treatment I had very few lyme/bart symptoms).

Know this is getting lengthy. Just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks!

The only reason she is not having me discontinue all meds is because I am still considering pregnancy (not until I clear the candida and heavy metals) so I am on amoxy until she can consult w/ an LLMD who has more experience in advising about pregnancy after lyme treatment.

I just finished 3 months of abx and my dr asked if I'd consider stopping them and trying some homeopathics for co infections/parasites and heavy metal detox for a couple months.

I was thrilled as I've favored natural remedies over abx but know they probably work hand in hand in treating Lyme.

It makes sense to me. She mentioned that she didn't think this would be the end of abx for me by any means but that I could try and kill off some of the other bugs for a bit and see where my symptoms are after that.

Don't know that this helps you in your situation but thought I'd pass on that my dr also has me pausing on the abx to treat other things too!

I had taken a scheduled abx break 2 months ago and never started back because I started feeling so much better.

I am focusing on yeast, healing my gut and any possible heavy metal and/or parasite issues. I use natural supp.s', diet, exercise and IR Sauna.

I also have years of black mold exposure that I am taking Cholestyramine for.

In addition to the black mold issue, the first thing for me is really to get a hold of the yeast and heal my leaky gut. Only then will I focus more on possible heavy metals.

The further I get with out any abx.s and into my GENTLE detox the better I feel.

Thank you! I had an appt w/ the naturopath on Fri and he said that I am not presenting w/ leaky gut (given symptoms and labs).

Are there any cases of people w/ candida who do not have leaky gut? Seems like it would be really hard to differentiate since there is so much overlap w/ symptoms.

Besides some occasional itchiness I am feeling pretty good. My head is more clear and I don't have any GI issues.

I would much prefer to deal w/ things as naturally as I can but do want to clear the candida and heavy metals.

I am hoping to continue to get my CD57 checked to see if my progress continues w/out abx. Wish there were good ways to monitor progress. OK...thank you!!
