I have a friend who is 23. She has been ill for the past 4+ years and was recently diagnosed with leukemia. She has just about every lyme symptom. Her white blood cell count was over 87,000 and was told she suffers from acute leukemia. She has been anemic for the past 3 years with no help from doctors in fixing the problem. While also suffering from severe neck pain, body pain, headaches, fatigue, swollen glands, night sweats, loss of a period, cold hands and feet, low vitamin D, low ovarian hormones, excessive hair falling out and more. They tested her for lyme which is futile because her immune system is non functioning. If your immune system is compromise how could you possibly test positive for lyme? She is getting a marrow biopsy today to determine what kind of leukemia she has. I feel she has lyme and leukemia and the lyme caused the leukema to come about because she was never treated. Does anyone know someone with both leukemia and lyme disease at the same time? Also, when would be the best time to get tested for lyme if you are on chemotherapy and antibiotics? She will be in the hospital for a week doing the I.V. antibiotic ciftine along with chemo.
Any help would be appreciated.

My my, what a long row to hoe for you and your friend. Sorry she is having so many problems. So nice of you to help her!

Yes, leukemia has been mistaken for Lyme and/or vise-versa.

Look under "Lyme Misdiagnosed As"... then Leukemia at the site below.

Hope this helps. Would chat more, but too tired. More folks will come along later I hope.
