on this? A friend recommended it. I just want to make sure it is completely safe before using it on my dogs and family. In addition, can one ingest this to get rid or parasites or is to only be used topically?

I just started taking it a few days ago. You can read a lot about it here. It's safe to ingest, just follow the instructions.

I read all the conflicting info as well.

My fav source (hvergerth) from curezone says it's safe and very effective.

But then RG (humaworm owner/seller) recommends against it!

i have been taking it for weeks now, tbl spoon a day, and i haven't noticed any side effects. After a couple days i think it scrubbed my intestines clean, still gotta maintain this terrible diet tho. check out yeastfreeliving.com, found some good recipes

How come RG doesn't like it? Humaworm was OK but it didn't seem strong enough for me. They seem like descent folks over there, though.

I take this too. I think it's safe, but unfortunately there's not a lot of data on it.

Kind of interesting on the "lack of data"...

I did find this about use in cats -

An alternative to prescription medicine for feline parasites that has a growing number of advocates is the internal and external use of food-grade diatomaceous earth.

Diatomaceous earth is actually the fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of prehistoric, hard-shelled algae. It has been used for some time as a natural wormer for livestock and is a non-toxic, non-chemical method of eliminating parasites--the shells of the small algae in the earth scratch the exoskeletons of parasites and dehydrate them.

Certain types of food-grade diatomaceous have been approved by the USDA for internal and external use in animals and humans. Kittens are to be given 1/2 to 1 teaspoon twice daily in food; cats are to be given 2 teaspoons twice a day.

It is essential that daily dosing is continued for a recommended 60 days (or longer) to eradicate worms, but diatomaceous earth can be given as a supplement in food year 'round. All this being said, if you realize that your cat is infected with worms, before you decide to use diatomaceous earth, it's best to call your vet first.

Talk to him or her about your options and ask about diatomaceous earth as an alternative method. When you're dealing with the health of your best friend, it's better to be safe than sorry.

sparkle,

He did a few write-ups on it.

If you go to curezone.com and type in humaworm and visit his forum - then type in DE and see his write-ups

IMO this is the best page for DE info:
http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/defaq.html

Check out the other links there also.

Thanks Canefan... I'll look tomorrow.

There's alot of info on it's benefits on the internet but I wasn't able to find any actual studies on PubMed, etc. Probably no money in it for the drug companies...

From Humaworm guy -

Here's why - DE is microscopiclly razor sharp - BUT - it will not work when it is wet. It works by slicing hard body insects that crawl over it - they are sliced open and dehydrate. (Internally, parasites are soft and slimy - not hard bodied.)

When DE gets wet - from rain or body fluids - it "melts" and is no longer useful. The package directions states this fact. I do use DE around my yard and my barns for flea and tick control and it works great - only until it rains - I then have to reapply it.

I conducted experiments years ago with two groups of cattle using DE internally to control roundworms. The DE did nothing. The control group cattle would still have stools with roundworms that the DE did not harm.

When taken internally - it acts like a bentonite clay - it will bind together and produce more stools - BUT - sometimes it will aggrevate the intestines because it will coat them - much like grease coats kitchen sink drain pipes.

Too much DE can cause the intestines to stop up and become unable to produce a bowel movement. I am not disputing your results - I just want to warn other readers of this forum of the danger of internal DE use.

-----

I'm not sure I agree with this. I think DE may be useful for killing parasites in one form or another - even if wet. I did actually consider this... There are a number of observations or unofficial studies with various animals in the field regarding usefulness.

I think it's good to be careful with any self-treatment. Go slow & be careful.

I also disagree with the above information.

I've dewormed animals before using only DE, and I know it was effective. In fact, I don't see any reason to use a prescription dewormer on pets, since DE works so well and doesn't have any bad side effects.

Also, there are many documented cases which show that when humans with worms take DE, they start seeing a bunch of chopped-up worms in their stools for a few weeks, until they're eventually healed.

My biological doctor recommended this to me for parasites. Dr. Lee Cowden has a Facebook where he actually answers questions on his page. I pm'd him about this to get his opinion about DE. He too highly recommended it for killing parasites.

If you want to read up on this there's a lot of links on google about it.

sparkle, can you give the links to the information you provided?

Thanks!

Thanks sparkle.

Whether DE is good or bad for you, I don't really know yet. But if you read the google link I gave you you'll see there's plenty of evidence it works for a lot of people.

Plus the fact that two doctors, one an MD, another an ND, would recommend I take it, they must know something about this since they both have experience in this area.

At the curezone link you gave me I found these two related links:

I do have parasites, found that out when I started doing coffee enemas. Pretty disgusting looking animals.

I just started last week and can tell something is happening inside of me. I will keep everyone posted and let you know how it works out for me.
