The more I read, the more I worry my two young children have congenital lyme. As it is, the younger one had her own Lyme tick bite (I assume - she had the bull's eye rash and was treated immediately with 3 wks of amox).
I live cross-country from Dr K, and so it would be a huge and $$$ under-taking, but I just wanted to feel it out...
Does he see new patients? I would LOVE to get a double appt for my little girls.

Dr J is far from us, too. Not as far, but still prob. a flight away.
I believe his approach is start with strong abx?
DD1 has the "motherload" per our provider of fungal infections (even after weeks and weeks of strong Diflucan). DD2 has a delicate GI system - even gluten-free, dairy-free, and nearly fruit-free cannot prevent frequent bouts of diarrhea.
I would really prefer not to give abx until their systems are better built up.

When we called they told us that Dr. K doesn't see new patients. New patients start with one of his associates who works closely with him and train under him. The wait time to see one of the doctors who works under him seems to be around 3-4 months.
All the doctors there seem to be extremely thorough and know what they're doing. The first appointment is actually over the course of 4 days.
I got the sense that once you've been seeing one of his associates you do eventually see Dr. K. If patients aren't making progress with the associate, they would see Dr. K sooner than later.

I want to be sure I understand the 4 day appt thing.
My child would see someone, say, on Monday, go back Tuesday, go back Wednesday, and finally, go back again on Thursday?
Sigh. That is a lot of missed school.
We do have someone locally who practices ART and was trained by Klinghardt. I just don't know if he has enough lyme-specific experience nor do I know if he can test for which meds/herbs would be helpful, etc.

I called his office in April. I made an apt in June just to talk to someone to make an apt with one of the assoicates. They said it would not
be until Sept. or Oct. So about 6 to 7 months to see an associate. .....** I have heard from people that go to the practice they spend a lot of money on supplements every month as well.
Not sure if I want to take a second mortgage out on my house to see the practice so I might not go.

I don't know if they might do anything different for children, but that is what they are currently doing for new patients...as an adult at least. I would imagine it would be the same for kids, but can't say for sure.
Over the course of that time the patient is seeing his/her doctor and also receiving various therapies at the clinic. The cost covers all the therapies/treatments and also supplements from that week.
Sunflrs' experience with wait list sounds about right... for me I called in Feb and got an appt for a phone consult in March. In March we had the phone consult and then had to call back a few days later to make our appt. Our appt was made for 3 months later-- in June.
So, for me it ended up being 4 months total...but I assume this all depends on their schedule and how many new people are making appts.

They told me one of the llmds is going on maternity leave over the summer so the wait was longer. Just wondering how much some of you paid for first apt. and how much you spend a month? I would love to go but really thinking I can not afford it. Thanks

Garden, You can call and make an appointment for a phone consult with the office manager (no charge) to ask questions and see if he is a good match for you and your girls.

And Garden...searching4truth's suggestion is great. Setting up a phone consult is one of the first steps you need to go through to get an appt anyway. As "searching" noted... the point of it really is for you and them to decide if they are a good fit for you.
If you are considering it, that's a great, no obligation way to get started.

I called a few years ago. They said I would need to see Dr. K and put me on a waiting list. I never heard from them again.
From what they told me when I called, appointments would be frequent - like every month maybe more depending on what you are working on.
He has a lot of material on-line. You may be able to read up on his methods and find a Naturopathic Doctor who would be willing to read and maybe implement some of his methods.

Knowing Dr. K. and the clinic, your best bet is to call and ask your questions there and let them ask questions of you.
What was said a few years ago is not necessarily true today. Situations change, their personnel changes. They do not chase people on waiting lists. If you were put on a waiting list, it would be necessary for you to call and inquire the status.
Hopefully there will be more practitioners who practice with ART. That is the key.
You may want to call the K Academy in New Jersey and connect with someone near your area through them. Just google the Academy - the training center. And you will find a ton of information on their website to help you decide whether this method of treatment is for you.
Hoping you find what you need.

They told me they would call *me*. It was poor office management on their part. Hopefully they've cleaned up thier office staff.

Don't count on their office staff being "cleaned up" - I used to see another practitioner in that office and there were things I saw go on there that should not have happened. I had a bad experience with Dr. K himself, also, so in my opinion, it would be better to find someone through the Klinghardt Academy who is closer to where you live...that way, you're not out the $$$ for a long trip if it doesn't work out so well.

Dr J a Biological doctor in KS does a lot of the same stuff Dr. K does. Has state of the art equipment and treats with natural meds, etc. Just another option to consider. He's in the midwest. If you want more info on him pm me and I will send you his website, etc.
He helped get me better, not 100%, but I'm still making fairly good progress. Was bedridden last year and could barely walk to the bathroom from my bed. Now I'm able to travel, work several hours a day, etc.
Working on parasites now. So getting rid of those has slowed me down because of all the toxins moving around now from the stuff I'm taking. Like I said, I'm not 100% but I do believe Dr. J saved my life.
