I was told not to exceed five minutes the first time.
How long should I wait in between uses?
I heard not to do consecutive days at first.

You might want to check out the book - Detoxify or Die. It has sauna protocols, including 'cocktails' to make sure your electrolytes don't get depleted.

What kind of sauna is it, a FAR infrared sauna?

I LOVE my far infrared sauna. I bought it before I knew I had Lyme, because I always felt better after heat and sweating.
Start s..l..o..w..l..y....
Some Lyme patients cannot tolerate heat. Some cannot sweat. Some, like me, love the heat.
Start with 5 minutes, maybe every 3rd day. Increase your time slowly. If you don't sweat at first, that's OK. Keep your time short.
Your body will learn to sweat again. Then, you can increase your time.
You may herx. I herxed after a sauna during my first year of treatment. Sometimes pretty intensely. Now, I do not herx after a sauna.
Drink lots of water with electrolytes during and after the sauna, even if you didn't sweat.
My sauna days are my 100% days, meaning, I am at 100% functioning after a sauna.
Enjoy!!

I started on a low temperature and for 3 minutes only in my Fir sauna blanket: I sill had a bad reaction, so I should take it VERY slowly and only twice a week until you see how you go.
Once you find that you can tolerate it, continue to raise the temperature and length of time in the sauna very slowly.
Not everyone is a good sweater and those people are the ones who tend to get toxic reactions because of having mobilised stuff without being able to sweat it out.
It is a good idea to skin brush/have a bath before a sauna to open the pores, drink a large glass of water with, for example, some clay/charcoal/apple pectin/chlorella/MSM .
Afterwards you need to replenish the minerals with an electrolyte and more water and have a shower!
Hope you get on well with it,
Carry
