I just want to see if other people take a CRAZY amount of pills like I do.

I probably take pills from 40-50 different bottles every day.

Since many of them are multiple pills from each bottle, the count must be in the hundreds of individual pills.

Probably if you put all of my pills from one day into a cup, it would fill an 8oz styrofoam cup to the top.

I'm I insane? [Smile] Are others like me?

I take them from 25 different bottles daily and I'm not sick any more. But, it was part of my regimen to get better, and I will continue to do so for the rest of my life if needed. I will do whatever it takes to not to go back there ever again.

Often we need to address issues other than just the bacterial infection in order to get better, as they ALL play a part in our succumbing to lyme and co's. Gotta fix it all. So, not you are not insane. And my cup runneth over as well.

At one point just before lyme was diagnosed, I was at about 80 different supplements. Probably down to about 30 these days.

I am taking over 150 pills a day. Or at least I am supposed to. I have a really hard time keeping up these days. At this point, I have a number of things that need to be 2 hours either side from any other supplements, and its hard. I need to sit down and rewrite my schedule.

s4t - I agree, it's very hard to schedule everything.

The most difficult, IMO, are the supplements that have to be taken on an "empty stomach". The strange thing is... if we're taking 15 pills at the same time which all have to be on an empty stomach... isn't the stomach full at that time? [Smile] I've always wondered about that.

I wonder the same thing!! Scheduling is the hardest part. Isn't there an app for that?!

lol! Good call. [Smile]

Here's my favorite tool for getting the job done:
http://www.amazon.com/Levine-7544-Pill-Box-Jumbo/dp/B000B90J38/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1307649199&sr=8-7

These made it a TON easier! I have 3 of them, for morning pills, mid-day, and evening. They're big.

hmm, at least 20-25, plus two bp meds, elavil for sleep and then the probiotics.

scheduling is the hardest.

when to eat, what to take with water, what to take at bedtime, it's a mess.....

i use a fishing tackle box. it's large and can be divided into larger sections. i have mine divided into 15 sections.

it's cheap at walmart but you can also get them at garage sales for a dollar or so. i can get an entire bottle of stuff in a larger section. course it takes up room when packing, but normally it's sitting on my kitchen counter. it also snaps shut pretty well too.

I spend an hour a week filling pill boxes for 3 of us. My sickest child takes the most- approx. 50 pills/vitamins/supplements. He gets priority including the most expensive ones.

My oldest and the healthiest of us 3 takes maybe 30 and is weaning down and I take at least 40.

I figure I will ramp up once the boys are better and the budget will allow it.

I had no idea this would be my life. I am fortunate to be able to work through all of this and pay for treatment!

I thought I was taking a lot until reading the above posts! I do get up though at night to take them as well to spread them out. As I have felt better I have stopped a few of the supplements, but I will continue to take vitamins and supplements especially probiotics. Feel all of these have truly made a huge difference in me feeling much better.

Anything over 30 - 40 has GOT to be too many. I'll count mine tomorrow.

When I was being treated, I counted 90+ pills a day.. but that counted prescription meds.

My question: What on earth are you all taking? I thought I was taking a bunch until I read this thread and I don't even compare.

Do you feel all the supplements are crucial to treatment?

I'm willing to add, I just don't know what.

I take between 10 and 15 per day but I am not really treating anything now. Just controlling and supporting.. I honestly think if I took anymore, I probably wouldn't feel that good from them all.. So I function pretty well on the ones I am taking.

Total pill count is 80- 90 a day
I'd like to focus on healing leaky gut so that I might absorb more of them and can cut down

I vary as to how many I take and also my attitude to taking lots of things:

It's so easy with chronic illness to read a description of a supplement/herb etc or a testimonial and think 'I must try that to keep all angles covered' or 'that makes sense'. Since I have been ill for many years, this can lead to bankrupcy!

Sadly, you can't tell easily often whether something is making a difference, protecting you from further degeneration or just making expensive bathroom waste!

So sometimes I take lots of stuff and others, I try to cut down, but they always seem to creep up again!
