Hi,
I'm hoping some people who feel better (or do not) could share their experiences about some specific symptoms they might have had and how they felt after Rocephin or other IV therapy.

Has anyone had resolution of symptoms such as short term memory, retrieval, and slurred speech? I feel so dumb some days.

What about a return to normal of executive function and thought processes? This lack of insight has been my number one complaint.

Anyone seem normalcy in their emotional and behavioral symptoms? I'm very paranoid and emotional.

The combination off all these symptoms have made me feel so depressed and grief stricken. I don't feel like a man.

Your replies are much appreciated!!! [bow]

Hause.

IV rocephin did not do much for me. At least it didn't feel like it did. From what I understand, Rocephin can be very effective when combo'd with a Cyst buster, and perhaps another drug. Unfortunately, my first doc was not an LLMD, but he did know that Lyme was long term and dangerous. I didn't get a whole of of progress until I started going after Bart. Drug combos seem to be the way to go.

I was incredibly paranoid and depressed. To the point of considering suicide. I had horrible neuro symptoms, more than anything else. This cleared up considerably when I started trteating Bart. I have very good days now, and I can think pretty clearly most days. I still have a way to go, but treating Bart turned a corner for me.

You should look into treating coinfections, if you haven't already. I tested negative for babs and Bart, and I am pretty sure I have both.

My daughter suffered horribly, just horribly, from phyciatric symptoms for many years. Was hospitalized a few times because of suicide attempts, hallucinations, memory loss, confusion, depression, hopelessness, fatigue, insomnia beyond words, rages, anger, she never ever laughed and other problems.

She was a mess.

She is near perfect now, though! She is a little intimidated by crowds of people, and doesn't like to engage in small talk with people she doesn't know at all...a bit unsure of herself in social settings...but is making progress with those things also.

Half of her life revolved around just interaction with her family and doctors and that is it, so it would be normal for her to have some residual effects from how her life was for so very long.

So I have witnessed total turn around concerning some of the most nasty, heart-crushing mental symptoms I have ever seen.

Have hope.

Momindeep - what treatment turned the corner for you? I'm just a week into rocephin after 2 years of orals.

Lymeboy - I've tested negative for babs and Bart twice. I may look into getting some flagyl for the short term. What else did you use? I need to recover my executive and emotional functions.

Treated Bart with Cipro. It started working within 3-4 weeks. Factive and Levaquin are supposed to be even better than Cipro. All of these drugs are dangerous and you must load up on magnesium to take these drugs.

Dangerous how? I guess I can do some research, ha. I'm not sure what to do given I have rocephin already.

thehause,

http://planetthrive.com/2010/04/hpukpu-protocol-for-lyme-and-autism/

Scroll down to the video and become familiar with the KPU/HPU problem. There are several threads here and many people I know need to treat KPU before they can make real progress.

Take care.

www.hputest.de (there is a test on this HPU site - click to the english version). KPU aka HPU is treated widely all over Europe and is barely known here.

This is another good link to learn about KPU.

thehause, Although it may be KPU or another reason. It's often stated that a person will not get rid of lyme until co-infections are addressed. I agree with Lymeboy that Bartonella is known for the symptoms you experience.

I am negative for Bartonella but I have not doubt in my mind that I have it based on symptoms. Those which include: extreme depression, suicidal rages, anger, antisocial, mean as hell, and anxious. Perhaps you could try a med used to treat bartonella or even A-bart by Byron White Herbs to see if you get a response. Bactrim and Rifampin are other drugs used to treat Bart that don't have the tendon risk.

Thanks a lot.

Wouldove to hear from other people who've gotten resolution... If you're out there!

IV Roc. did help me turn the corner with my executive functions as well as some emotional functions. I am much more in the ballgame in every manner and it really helped me with my lyme rage. I was also taking orals during this time. It did not help too much with my depression, but I also did not think that it would. Good luck!

I just started treating Bart with Bactrim DS in April and have noticed some improvement in my mental symptoms which included.....anxiety, being overly emotional, short tempered and having the most minor things irritate me. I would get frustrated at the littlest of things.

I am still having symptoms but they have improved so I'm with the others who suggested bart may be an issue.

My daughter did not have Bart...she had Erlichia...so symptoms like that aren't always Bart...Her LLMD thinks it was probably the Lyme, itself, that reaped havoc.

I cannot give you the protocol that turned my daughter around because it was/is very specific to her...she had testing done at Spectracell Labs, a top-notch energy doctor along with a savy LLMD.

She has had to address Erlichia, parasites, gut health, GF diet is a big one, and of course, Lyme.

But, I still want you to understand that it can resolve.

It is safe to use bactrim and rocephin together? I feel so lost everyday. Very confused and unhappy.

Isn't the bartonella test quite accurate?

Posted by Abxnomore (Member # 18936) on :

No. Co infections are a clinical diagnosis as well.

Posted by lymeboy (Member # 24769) on :

there are no accurate tests. If your doc is telling you this, you should go to another.

Thanks for the info.

Did you guys get relief from your neuro / psychiatric symptoms?

Posted by thehause (Member # 21237) on :

Would clarithromycin or azithromyacin (since I have taken both of them) have treated the bart or babs?

Posted by lymeboy (Member # 24769) on :

not fully. to treat these coinfections, special drugs/herbs/regimen is needed for each one. I have had MAJOR reliefe from neuro symptoms sionce treating Bart. Like I said, Im not out of the woods yet, but I have made some good strides, and only after targeting Bart specifically, and now Babs....

I believe some abx tx sent me into a psychiatric period. Namely abx I did in late 09-early '11.

One man's medicine can be another man's poison.

So I'm not in favor of.... it just takes an abx or two or three. It takes more work and many many protocols than a simple Big Pharma pill or two.

agreed. I did not mean to imply that you need drugs and that's that. Antibiotics are dangerous, but for me, they have been very helpful. Pam said it best...

I'd been taking oral (you name it almost) for two years with no change in the decreased mental speed, clarity, executive function, emotional control, etc. I doubt that abx had a negative effect, only because there was little change to start with.

I'm just now starting Rocephin. I hope this helps me get my mental speed and agility back. I'm not sure what other roads I can go down, besides the huge supplement list I'm taking, to get back to what I was.

My doc told me he doesn't think I have bartonella from what he has observed. He's pretty on top of things. Maybe he is wrong.

My 21-year old son has multiple infections, including Lyme and Bartonella. Six months ago, despite taking NUMEROUS psychotropic meds, he had panic attacks more than once a day, agitation so severe I once had to call the police, mood swings, severe confusion and poor cognitive functioning like you wouldn't believe.

He is getting better on oral rifampin and minocycline, along with grapefruit seed extract, Samento and Banderol. He has had only one panic attack in the last couple of months, no agitation, clearing mentation and far more stable mood.

I hope something works for me Susie. I may just go Mexico and get something for Bart. Maybe that is the cause of my agitation. I feel a little out of balance. Very drunk / strange.
