Anyone have a hard time taking a deep breath? I feel like the muscles around my rib cage are atrophing.

I was dxd with ALS so I guess that's what's happening. Can this happen with lyme too?

Yes, this can happen with Babesia.

Are you treating for it?

I have been having a LOT of instances of this lately--last night was HORRIBLE, and this morning is just as bad.

I used to have "just" air hunger, but now I have what you're describing, like somethng is constricting my diaphragm/lower ribcage area.

I also have what feels like spasms in my diaphragm--I also have (or suspect I have) Tourette's, and sometiimes I feel like I'm having tics in my diaphragm.

This is the WORST feeling I have had with this disease so far.

BTW, I am being treated for lyme, ehrlichia, and babesia.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it is related to atrophy. You may get some relief by rubbing trigger points. You will need to find the right one though. Look for a hard, painful knot in the front upper torso. I get relief sometimes if I rub right where the breast starts near the arm. I have a long ropey thing there that seems to somehow be involved in breathing difficulties for me sometimes.

As already mentioned, babesia could be the culprit. I've read lyme and babesia are implicated in ALS so I hope you are being treated for babesia even if you don't test positive. I think the doctor who reversed his ALS may have mentioned it but I've read it elsewhere too and can't remember where.

Hope you get some relief soon.

Terry
I'm not a doctor

Breathing is better with less humidity. I felt better today.

Randi,
it will resolve with treatment. Just go slow.
