Once candida has escaped the gut and spread to other areas of the body, can it be eliminated or is it always around outside the gut? I know it is always in the gut but can you get rid of it in the rest of the body?

i believe you can but it's a tough job. there was somebody on here who said they were stage 4 which is serious.

long term diflucan might do it.

This is going to sound like a stupid question...I know so little about yeast, but how do you know if you have candidia, and what stage it is?

I don't have candida but my hairdresser does. Her doctor gave her antibiotics and neglected to tell her to take probiotics and that is how she developed it. It's such a common condition on this board that I thought I'd put the question out there.

I've read a lot on this board about people taking stuff for candida but I've never heard whether it can be totally eliminate systemically. She has been put on three months of diflucan and is improving.

i think a lot of people use that ole water test. where you spit into a glass of water first thing in the morning and if it has strands out of the bottom like an octupus, you have candida.

now some swear by this, others don't. personally, i don't know. i always have massive clumps of yucky stuff.

otherwise i think a blood test can tell. but getting doctors to do it is another problem.
