Has anyone had this symptom? My toes are peeling off in "sheets".

Is there anything that can be done for this. I've been using coconut oil on them and nothing seems to help.

Hmm...I don't really know. I've seen this happen in children after coming down with strep. Maybe a fungal infection? Allergic reaction?

Sorry. I'm not much help!

I think this is a fungal infection. Try soaking your feet in warm water with a small amount of bleach(1 oz) in the water. Do this at least once a day if not twice. It helped my daughter tremendously. Her hands and feet were raw from "peeling". I kept thinking it was dry skin, but it wasn't. Good luck!

Personally, if I were to soak my skin in a solution, I would much prefer hydrogen peroxide over bleach. h2o2 is also a strong oxidizer that kills microbes, but it's much healthier than bleach, which is a carcinogen. That's just my opinion.

If it's related to parasites, diatomaceous earth might help. I'm just throwing this out there in case you feel like researching it.

I've had something a little bit different- ever since getting lyme, my feet get extreme callouses, to the point that they are painful when I walk. The callouses then peel some.

Also some spots will crack really deeply. For the cracks I've used neosporin and bandages, doesn't help a whole lot.

For the callouses I use my dremmel to sand them down (they are that thick!) and it feels somewhat better, but they always come back. Not sure this helps much, but I feel your pain.

I'm convinced it is due to Lyme somehow or other.

blownelk---I used to have cracks & callouses on my feet. Never really thought much about it. Then, did a 30 day dose of Humaworm. My feet did this weird peeling thing and now they are normal. The cracks mostly went away. I was also treating Babs so not sure which actually lessened this but I've always figured it was the Humaworm.

It's actually slowing coming back. It was last September or October that I did the Humaworm.

What meds are you on? This could be a medication effect. Especially if you are on Bactrim. I had issues with it and my mouth. When I was looking up pictures of issues with Bactrim, there were some of skin peeling. Be careful with the meds.

The only antibiotic I'm taking right now is mino but have been on it for a while. I started chelating a while ago. The only new thing I've added is coconut oil, 1 T per day. Hmmm...it really could be a fungus. I've also been putting it on my feet and noticed the peeling is getting worse and worse.

I'm interested in the peeling and parasite connection though. Do parasites cause this symptom?

Thanks so much for your replies.

The first time this happened to hubby it was his fingers and earlobes and nose that the skin peeled off of. He had what we thought at the time in 2003 or 2004 was an allergic reaction to mepron. He broke out in hives -- went from a few to full body red welts within 24 hours. He also gained 10 pounds of fluid weight overnight.

The 2nd time this happened was a couple of months ago. He got a rash and then the skin peeled off. The rash was from his wrists to elbows and ankles to thighs. But the skin on his hands and feet and scalp also peeled off -- plus everywhere he had the rash. This time he had a positive test for rocky mountain spotted fever. Have read of other patients with RMSF who had their skin peel off on their feet.

But of course hubby was taking malarone (which has mepron in it) at the time of the rash. He had actually just increased his dose from 4 to 6 tablets daily.

But he had taken the malarone for about 5 months prior to this at lower doses and actually has gone back on it at 6 pills daily again.

So I really don't know if it was some sort of med reaction either time.

But if you have ever had rashes or high fevers you might want to get tested for RMSF just to make sure.

The docs think hubby had the RMSF for the entire 11 years he has been sick but his immune system was suppressed by the bart or BLO or mycoplasma in the past which kept him from running fevers or getting the ras until now.

Oh dear, Bea....you guys have really had a rough time of it.

I didn't think about a suppressed infection rearing its ugly head. Will talk to my dr. about it. Thank you.
