Anyone experiencing a bad nonproductive cough with Babesia? My husband is constantly coughing for no reason. It is keeping him awake at night. We tried Zantac for 4 weeks to satisfy our LLMD that it wasn't acid reflux. LLMD is referring him to Pulmonary doctor just to be sure nothing else is going on.

My son had a similar problem. We found it to persist even after Babesia treatment but it remitted when he was put on Bactrim. Both times we have taken him off the Bactrim his cough comes back within a few weeks. It was bad enough and persistent enough that he was put on a nebulizer for breathing treatments which helped but only treated the symptom, not the underlying cause which we assume is either Lyme or Bart. Not sure if this could be the case with your husband, but thougt I'd share a similar experience!

I think lungworm can produce a cough but from how I understand it the tests are not reliable for parasites either

THANK YOU. WE ARE GOING TO CHECK THE HOUSE FOR MOLD ALSO. WE HAVE TO RULE EVERYTHING OUT. THEN SEE WHAT LLMD SAYS.

You are right a dry unproductive cough is a babesia symptom so I don't see the need to test or pursue another diagnosis. I have had it now and then. I also lose my voice -sound very hoarse and froggy. Is he taking Mepron or Malarone?

I think the parasites and possibly aggravated by the meds...Treat to kill. I used benedryl and cough for colds. And it went away...
