Has anyone else developed a gluten allergy since starting Lyme Treatment?

Had gluten sensitivity before. In my opinion (I'm learning, too!), you may have had it before and it is just starting to show up. Many, many people have a gluten sensitivity and do not currently know it.

One of our doctors explained that this was the case with my daughter and that I couldn't see a reaction to gluten then because there were so many other issues. Later, but before we started treatment, it became obvious. If she had a biscuit (say from a well-meaning relative who promised that her mom would allow it just this once), she would have horrible psych symptoms (those are her main kinds of symptoms).

Gluten is often a culprit in bi-polar and many other issues.

I developed gluten sensitivity from Lyme Disease. But I agree with tu4two, I believe that I was developing a sensitivity before, and that Lyme "helped" it along.

Never had food allergies before lyme but now have quite a few including gluten.

I agree with dmc about leaky gut - must get that under control.

I had a gluten intolerance when I got sick, it didn't really have to do with starting meds, rather getting sick.

Once I was better, no more gluten intolerance.

Gluten Diet is recommended for Lyme patients I've been told becuase, Gluten cause's Inflammation in GI tract.

haven't heard of Lyme inducing A gluten allergy or intollerance....but if your suffering from Intolerance ...It could just be Inflammation that is triggered by Gluten.

I personally like the Gluten diet...Much healthier and is increasing throughout the resturaunt business/fast food and suppermarket chains.

FYI...Udi's bread is the BEST!! if your looking for GF bread

Lyme is thought to be capable of switching "on" any genetic aspect to gluten intolerance/sensitivity/Celiac Disease. I'm the only one in my family who has obvious symptoms from eating gluten that disappear on a GF diet, and I have a Celiac gene and a Gluten Sensitivity gene (see http://www.enterolab.com for more info on non-Celiac gluten sensitivity - I have no financial connections with EnteroLab).
