My 8 yr old son keeps seeing what he calls "White Spots" in his vision. Is this a Lyme thing? Anyone else have this and what did you do for it???

We don't have an LLMD for him right now and cant afford to travel.

Oh, forgot to mention that he is CDC+ with many, many bands for Lyme, and has mycoplasma. Suspect Bart as well.

a regular md won't see him with those test results?

I am constantly amazed...

sorry I can't help you but I will pray for you.

Is this a recent symptom? If it is due to the high heat he may getting dehydrated and close to passing out.

Or does it happen when he goes from sitting to standing -- think it could be a symptom of orthostatic hypotension caused by adrenal fatigue and also low sodium.

Does he have headaches or any other symptoms at the same time?

Lots of possible causes for this symptom.

My daughter (age 6) sees spots too but she said hers are orange and purple. I have taken her in to see two different Pediatric Ophthalmologists but they can't find anything wrong! Then recently her WB from LapCorp shows band 39 to be positive, so we're thinking Lyme and/or co-infections are messing up with her vision.

My LLMD just ordered a lot of tests for her so we will find out more in a few weeks. With luck with your son... keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies...

No, a regular MD won't treat him more than a few weeks.

Yes, this is a recent symptom. This happened twice within the past week..the first time I did attribute it to dehydration because he was hot and sweaty.

The second time he was laying in his bed about to go to sleep.

Today he was at VBS and the kids were standing on stage just doing hand movements to a song, and when he got off the stage he came right to me and told me he was seeing the white spots again.

No other symptoms of headache or anything. I make him drink lots of water (because for the past year his blood results always came back saying he was dehydrated even though he drinks plenty. He eats fine.

Ugh..I feel helpless.

Read Dr. B's Guidelines for kids. Is there anyway you could get anyone to rx the apropriate dosage of abx for him for more than a few weeks?? If not, I would consider ordering it online or treating him with herbs for now. The herbs would be safer, since you'd be doing it without oversight.

But get him checked out to make sure that there isn't something else going on. Knowing how often they say, "You're fine!" when clearly you aren't!

My children ( who have lyme, have never said anything about white spots) however, i myself see floaters all the time.

Which I guess you could explain (as a child) as white spots. Mine happen often at times and then might subside for awhile.

Please take him to see a pediatric ophthalmologist. The eye doctor needs to make sure that he doesn't have a serious problem like retinal tear or detachment.

One of my first symptoms was eye floaters, spots, blurred vision. Truly believe its Bartonella. Bart causes eye issues. I saw my eye doctor almost monthly and they could find nothing wrong. I still get them checked though, just to be sure they are okay.
