HI
I am long overdue for a trip to the dentist. I have read a few post on here and I am more scared now than I was before. I need to have some teeth either pulled or they will need to do root canals. I am terrified! The last time I was at the dentist was years ago and I had a bad reaction to the lidocaine. This was before my Lyme DX. I have also been DX with the FL1953. I don't know how to not be terrified--I NEED to get work done. What about using nitris? Should the teeth be pulled or root canaled? They are in the back. I just don't want to have a cardiac reaction.

They do have a "novocaine" that does not contain a stimulant... or it is at least not as bad. I have heart issues and always ask for it.

I would prefer to have them pulled, myself. (as opposed to a root canal )...But CROWNS are OK.

Do you experience after effects with your heart issues? that's what I am truly terrifed of, having a massive flare with the dental work.
Have you had teeth pulled? I really don't want a root canal and would rather have it pulled myself.
Have you ever had nitrous oxide?
Or the conscious sedation?

Vitamin B12 can counteract the sulfite preservatives in the novocain, if that's what you were reacting to...

Also, there is preservative-free novocain (called carbocaine)...it is the epinephrine in the novocaine that contains the sulfite preservative, so you can ask for epinephrine-free novocaine.

Razzle,
Could the epinephrine in the Novocain be what caused my heart palpitations and dizziness? The last time I had an extraction, I felt like that. My thyroid is overactive, too. It was frightening! Avoiding that the next time dental work is done would be nice.

Sincerely,
Jin

I'd go to a biological dentist. Make sure there arent any infections IN the tooth or roots. There can actually be a lot of lyme issues with dental work, so I would ask your LLMD if they know a biological dentist. Also if you do muscles testing it might be good to test the filling/ crown before you get it put in, some people are allergic to the substance.
