I have heard some have taken it daily for weeks / months, while others pulse it a few days a week / month.

I was just curious how long people have taken it continuously on a daily basis?

Given the new research from Eva Sapi, I'd like to take it for a longer stretch.

I've taken Tindamax for a year and a half straight. Just the last few months my LLMD has me skipping one week a month.

I've been on tindamax twice, first in winter '09 and then again recently. I felt very sick while on it and never lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

Tinidazole everyday for 15 months. I stopped in July and will pulse Flagyl IV one week per month starting this month.

Flagyl 3 times per day for 2 months.

Flagyl for 6 months. Tindamax and cipro for 6 months. There is info out there that cipro helps to shuttle tindamax into the cells where it can attack all forms of LD.

Also, Dr. B mentions that taking a PPI with an abx like levaquin may make the abx be more effective in treating the infection.

Man, all this long-term tindamax use without people being in remission is not a good selling point for it, despite Sapi's research...

Tindamax, 9 months, twice a day.

twice a day for a long time.

Can you explain why you are asking? Is it bad. I can't understand all the med talk like most of you can. [Frown]

All 3 of us take tindamax two days a week, two a day. It has been a year at least.

In spite of on and off treatment for years (off only due to treatment issues and dr changes), I have yet to have a dr rx a cyst buster, other than GSE!!! I've certainly asked. Frustrating.

One of my drs, who is well known, said he only gives it at the end of treatment!! And he is usually considered aggressive!

But right now I've been off all tx, due to gallbladder/liver/pancreas problems, so . . .
This is not an answer to your question, only a comment of frustration.

I was curious about this too. Does Flagyl or Tindamax hit other infections like bart?

Where do you all get Tindamax from?

Posted by Abxnomore (Member # 18936) on :

With a script from the pharmacy. Tinidazole has to be gotten from a compounding pharmacy with a script.

Or you can get it from a foreign country, most often without a script. That would most likely be Tinidazole, as it it manufactured by Pfizer as fasigyn but never marketed in the U.S. If you are on the west coast Mexico would be your closest bet.

So which one's more effective, Flagyl or Tindamax? Taking it that long seems crazy!! That doesn't make any sense to me unless you started with it at the very beginning, but still seems like too long.

I take Flagyl every day. I started in January with a few days a week and worked up to daily.

Last summer, I took Tindamax for a month every day. My LLMD switched me to Mepron to go after babesia when I tested positive.

I felt like I was herxing more on the Tindamax and am going to ask to switch back to that at my next appointment.

I took Flagyl for 9 months, no ramping up or pulsing.

I took Flagyl for 5 months...every day...pretty high dose. Believe it was the culprit behind me developing yeast issues.

Whats the basis of when you should stop it aside from having side effects.

I've been on Flagyl daily for a while now (about 2 months) and still haven't reached the target dose...every dose increase hits me hard with herxing, so I know it is still doing something...

I think the reason people aren't better from taking Tindamax/Flagyl is coinfections that aren't susceptible to this type of antibiotic.

Just my $.02...

I got tinidazole from my pharmacy no problem. Why do you say it has to come from a compounding pharmacy?
