Hi I am just wondering is weakness that only affects one side of your body common. I have been told my father has Lymes Disease and has not suffered a stroke. He has strength in his left arm and leg but they as he would put it are not cooperating with him. Is this common and what has help others! I am desperately seeking advice and help for my father. Thanks,

Was your weakness like your left side was lazy or uncooperative. He walks but has to really think about picking up his foot or it may drag. He was put on Doxy and coumadin. I have read that heprin is a better anticoagulant for Lymes but he would really have to monitor heprin. Did you take a regimen of medications? How long did it take you to get better? It is very hard to see a strong active man become so dependent and weak!! We are encournaging him to keep doing exercises to keep his strength but I know he can loose ground fast not keeping as active as he once was. Any information is appreciate. Thanks,

I am also wondering where I can find more information about the one sided weakness in Lymes and current treatments? Thanks,

I don't know about the weakness, but coumadin needs to be strictly monitored also. He should be having weekly bloodwork to check his levels and also have to e careful about certain foods. Vitamin K is an issue with coumadin, can't remember what it is right now, but you can find it online.

i can answer this but have no reasoning or explanation as to why:
I was rear ended and shortly after I developed 75% loss of my strength in my left side this was back in 2001 I had numerous tests run and the only test that came back unusual was a western blot test indicating presumptive positive for Lyme. that is when my story begins and my life of research began concerning lyme disease and my entire family or health ailments and concerns and questions which we found answers with treating all of us for Lyme disease..I never found out what resolved the weakness I just had to continue PT for an entire year, which either that helped or the treatment for Lyme resolved it your guess is as good as mine I say most likely the latter..
we are all still ill but dealing much better with symptoms as we know what is behind the issue here and know it is a never ending story.. best to you all..
