the search engine is not working.

i am reading posts that indicate that you can be prescribed coartem or riamet in the states now.
is this true and i also am interested in other forms of artemisia by prescription;
such as artemether or artemix.

i have a doctor appt on teusday and would discuss it there.

Yes, coartem can be prescribed in U.S. now and there are a number of posts on the subject here. Not sure why you can't get the search engine to work....it works for me. But it takes some time.

Artemisinin is not Rx, can get it over the counter. Don't know about the other forms of it.

How is your son? If this is too painful to answer, ignore the question.

Artemether is not available by scrip in the U.S. but coartem or riamet is. The current dosing being used is 4 pills for 3 days in a row. The docs differ on how long to go in between rounds.

And some docs are very conservative and won't let you take much of anything else with the coartem. It is kind of like rifampin in that it can't be combined with a long list of other meds. I think the most frequent side effect which could be very serious is long QT heart issues.

Don't think I have ever heard of artemix before.

thanks guys.
no, the search engine is not working for me, i get the generic "cannot connect" page after i click for the query.

i realized after i posted that artemix is otc, a combination of artemether, artemisinin and one other.

i will discuss coartem/riamet with doc for what looks like a new babesia infection.

tho, allergy research makes a good artemisinin that i am also considering.

Mo,

Since you have not been around for awhile -- the new "standard" dose for artemisinin has increased greatly. When hubby first took it back in 2004 the Dr B only prescribed 2 or 3 100 mg capsules daily. Now the suggested dose based on various conference notes is up to 12 capsules or 1200 mg daily (usually in 2 or 3 divided doses).
