My mother in law was bit by mosquito, fly or some type of bug six days ago. Now she has a bright red and burning rash covering her whole chest, arms and is spreading to her face.
I told her to go to the hospital, she says she might wait to see her doctor tomorrow.
Could this be Lyme?

I don't know if it's Lyme, but I would get that checked out or start doing a whole lot of research. Hopefully someone else here has heard of something like this before.

That would get me moving to see a doctor fast.
Might be a good idea to take some photos of the rash from her chest, arms, face and wherever it is present.
Although I don't know what could cause that type of rash, it might also be a good idea to locate a LLMD that she can make an appointment with for exam and diagnosis.
Best wishes.

Lots of biting bugs carry germs, not just lyme. Good idea to see a doc, but some of them don't know much about vector borne diseases, and lyme docs specialize in just certain kinds.

would definitely want her to be seen by a dr ASAP

Thanks for the replies. She went to the ER and they gave her Benedryl and steroids. It did not help.
She is going to her doctor today and I told her to request bloodwork, a complete examination and antibiotics.
It is sad, but my husband who drove her said the doctors seemed clueless.

take pictures. It could be a number of things. If Benadryl didn't help, I am guessing it is some sort of infection and not a reaction to the bite. Im not a doctor, but I would start doing research for her. Yes, most docs are completely useless if it's not something like strep throat or pink eye.
