I read here and there that Zithro hits Bartonella slightly. Not as good as the rifamtin and Bactrim, but it does do some good.

But I never heard on this forum much about Zith and Bartonella.

Has anyone with Bart had any help with Zithro?

Thks,

Beagle

Daughter took Zith back when first diagnosed with Lyme.

It did not seem to do anything for her.

Recently we retried the Zith for Bartonella. She had a rough time. Lots of breathing issues, possibly a herx around week three.

So I feel perhaps it was hitting the Bart, but it became to scary to continue. We were trying to ramp up and she was only at one tablet per day.

I do not mean to scare you. Daughter has detox issues, etc. So she does not do well with antibiotics in general.

Hopefully others will come along with their experiences.

Bart has been my most obvious infection since diagnosis. My original protocol included zith and I did herx hard, but bart symptoms gradually began to resolve.

When I went off zith because I ran out, my GI symptoms immediately began to return and came back full force even after starting a different protocol. So, it's anecdotal but yes, I believe zith was hitting my bart hard and now it's going nuts again.

When I took the Zith/Plaquenil combo for intracellular Lyme (Plaq changes the pH to increase the cellular entry and effectiveness of Zith), my Bart symptoms improved tremendously.

I plan to try that combo again very soon.

It didn't really hit mine, even with Plaquenil. I developed this awful inner ear pain and slight hearing loss, that went on for 3 weeks after I quit it. It cleared up, thank god.

Bactrim and levaquin for me thanks.
