Has anyone here been diagnosed with this? My ob thinks I have this.

I just found a link that said it could be caused by infection of a spriochette (no kidding--below).

She wants me to use steroid cream, and I am not sure if I'm supposed to be using anything with steroids.

Yes, I've had this too. Not fun. The steroid cream was absolutely necessary during symptom flares. I couldn't tolerate the sharp burning pain.

My doctor explained that using a small amount of steroid cream seemed to help reduce the amount of scarring and tissue damage that might otherwise occur without treatment. I think she was right.

I got this diagnosis a couple months before I new I had Lyme. When I started seeing my LLMD I asked for his opinion about the steroid cream. He was actually very understanding, said this was a common problem for women with Lyme. He agreed that it was best to treat this to prevent tissue damage.

Thankfully this symptom has resolved for me. Maybe it will get better for you too once you've treated Lyme for awhile.

I have several abstracts stating that it is caused by lyme. Ceftin 2000 daily flared it then took it away. I just went for my annual gyn check and it is gone.

I used steriod cream at its worst.
As long as you are on abx the steriod cream should be okay. I think the problem is when you are not on abx and use steriods is what makes it worse.

I had it. It was one of the last symptoms of Lyme to arrive before treatment. It took a few months on antibiotics but it was the first symptom to resolve. I haven't gotten it back since I've been off antibiotics.

I still have symptoms of Lyme and am doing an herbal protocol now. If the Lichen Schlerosis comes back, I know I will have backslid and would probably have to go back to antibiotics.

Ug,

Sorry to hear you are dealing with this Ipkayak. I'm following as I have a dear friend who has struggled with this.

She also had bells palsy a few years back, so now I am really thinking I need to get her to look into lyme. No fun, but better then not knowing.

I have been dianosed with vulvodynia, which sounded close to

Lichen Sclerosis. I guess the biggest difference is the white paperlike tissue....

They still sound close...fyi for all:

My symptoms have resolved with Lyme antibiotic treatment.

I'm also on the Nuva Ring to regulate monthly cycles and help reduce Lyme period flares so I think the small amount of estrogen may help with the condition too.

Whatever it is, I'm glad the symptoms are under control, Lichen sclerosis is a very painful and unpleasant condition.
