Does anyone else test high in Cortisol levels? Is there a connection between high levels and Lyme?

I still have high cortisol levels after months of tx for lyme - antibiotics + herbs and supplements.

I have greatly improved in other symptoms from a year ago, but last testing showed cortisol still high.

There has to be a connection. I believe the lyme puts our body under stress.

Bellajo:

Thanks for the responce. I have a similar story. I have been treating lyme --same way for 3 years. I have improved sooo much. But still have high cortisol--and sleep problems--and fatigue.

My naturalpath recently tested me and wants to refer me to an endocrinologist but I am thinking this is just a reflection of the disease and that is yet another path I don't really feel like throwing $$ and energy at.

You might read about adrenal fatigue. It sounds like an early stage of it. My adrenals became healthier after I got better.

I had really high cortisol levels when I got bit three years ago. My doc told me to read a good book called, "Adrenal Fatigue". I followed the advice in that book and got better (after about a year), even though I had lyme, and didn't know it until 3 years later.

As I recall, the book stressed lots of rest, lots of vitamin C and salt (I think it was iodized, can't remember). I also went vegan, which really helped a lot.

I know that there is a salt/C protocol that some people who failed with abx try, and it helps some of them, hence, the vit C and salt I took were helping me fight the lyme.
