We talk a lot about INCREASED intracranial pressure on here, but does anyone get DECREASED intracranial pressure headaches? The ones that hurt on the top of your head and the back of your head/neck, that make you want to scream in pain if you sit up or stand up, but that get better almost immediately if you lie down?

I had the same thing. �If I stood up and walked the pressure would increase. �If I sat down on a slight incline, such as on a desk chair or laying down, it would go away.
After one month of IV Rocephin it mostly went away and I was 90% better by the third week. �As I continued Rocephin I was then getting worst. �
My biggest problem then was getting increased head and neck pressure when sitting normally. �At times it would increase when standing too. �Sitting was a sure ,way to get the increase. �At times even laying down no longer helped.
It would increase so much that it lead to throat tightness, jaw tightness, then breathless and if it goes beyond that tachycardia.
It was almost as if a vein in my neck or head was blocked and ultimately required my heart to pump faster to get more oxygen and unclog the blockage.

Sorry Lymed, I'm talking about DEcreased intracranial pressure headaches, the kind someone might get with a CSF leak or after a lumbar puncture/spinal tap.

Lymed - I feel the same headpressure as you do...5 months with very little relief. I sit many days with ice wrapped around my head.
To date no antibiotic has helped. I am now on Flagyl hoping that I see some relief in time.

Update: We think it was the Topamax, which I've since stopped. I still get a ton of headaches but not that variety.
