My son was diagnosised about 2 years ago with chronic lyme. He has been in and out of emergency rooms and doctor's offices. He is now under the care of a lymes doctor and has just started taking roxithromycin. Has anyone tried this medication? How do you know the difference between a herx reaction and normal daily lyme symptoms. Did anyone have any success with this?

Lymin9, are you getting Roxi here in the US because I thought one couldn't.

I take it and buy it from an overseas pharmacy.

I just switched from Azith back to Roxi as the Azit was giving me terrible heart pounding.

It has a shorter half life (12 hours) than Azith) And, I believe it has a lower affinity for cytochrome P450 (so it's not as hard on the liver).

It doesn't give me the symptoms that Azith does... but I'm still a work in progress, so I don't know if it "works" [Smile] it is a macrolide....

Since this is not available here and I might be antibiotic resistant, which I pray not, could that mean it would still have a chance of helping. Are you on others at the same time///

Asith has been the one thing keeping me going for years.. I guess anythin that it might have caused was not as bad as what it helped. LLMD just took me off it. Wasn't real sure about it ,but trying to do as he says.
