Is it ok to use Real Lemon lemon juice versus fresh lemons?

I'd say probably not:

Ingredients
Lemon Juice From Concentrate (Water, Concentrated Lemon Juice), Sodium Metabisulfite, and Sodium Benzoate (Preservatives), Lemon Oil, Sodium Sulfite (Preservative).

This looks OK:

in fact I just added it to my cart!

My dentist is big on drinking lemon water in the morning for ph balance but she suggest using a straw to drink it so it doesn't harm your enamel. I have read of posters on here having enamel problems from drinking lots of lemon water everyday.

Thanks Mojo - good point, will try this in the future

JarJar - I took your advice from a previous post and drink from a straw [Smile]

Yes, be careful. It only took a couple months of drinking lemon water, and usually through a straw, to turn the edges of my teeth translucent. [Frown]

I heard you can drink (thru a straw) a few teaspoons of red wine vinnegar mixed in a glass of water, and it will have same effect as the lemon water...

Does anyone do that?

I just stocked up on straws today.

My daughter is doing her teaching residency in a second grade classroom and suddenly ALL of my straws disappeared! LOL

I recently purchased a glass straw from Amazon. Have you guys ever used those? I figured it'd be more environmentally conscious and safer than using plastic.

I originally was gonna buy some stainless steel ones, but I think the glass might be better because you can see when it's dirty on the inside.

Harmony - where'd you go all this time?! You completely disappeared! Are you feeling okay?

Now here's a lady who understands true art! [Smile] That's what I'm talkin about. Can you actually read it in the original? So that would mean you know English, German, and French... impressive!

At least Harmony understands that I have an appreciation for true art. I tried to convince the others, but les grandes personnes ne comprennent jamais rien toutes seules, et c'est fatigant, pour les enfants, de toujours leur donner des explications.

Ha ha ha, James!

Yes, it is tiring to explain it all to the adults all the time, isn't it?

I figured I was good many times, so I can be bad once and hi-jack this thread.

Thanks for making me feel good - I have not felt appreciated in a long time as my brain has deteriorated lately and my boss is ready to replace me with something younger and smarter (and cheaper, maybe, he he). It is good to remember who you are and what you can do.

By the way, I would drink lemon water through a straw - do you think one should drink Kombucha through a straw, too?

Right now I am still lucky enough to be able to afford GT's Kombucha and it is supposed to detox, provide enzymes and probiotics, and I drink the gingeraid flavor and it helps me with nausea - three hip hip huray for the stuff!!!

It is acidic, though. Have not noticed any changes on my teeth - I think the enamel has always been a little on the transparent side or do you all think that can be from drinking too much acid? What does it mean? Is it bad?

Would you send a link for your glass straw purchase, please?

in answer to your question, James, yes, I have been away, so nice of you to notice!, I was trying to forget about being sick for a while - I am doing a little better but far from being done - on three abx now and hoping my liver will hold up and the bugs won't [Big Grin]

Replace you with someone "younger and smarter"?! Get out of town! Are you serious?! Are they on drugs or something?! [Wink]

I'll respond to your questions with my tail between my legs, because the other members here are much smarter than me.

I think it's best at least to rinse out our mouth with water after drinking or eating something acidic. I agree that the straws are a good idea, but I still rinse out my mouth immediately afterwards.

Yes, I think the kombucha is acidic enough to weaken the enamel, since it is usually near 3.0 on the pH scale.

I've been noticing that my teeth get weaker whenever I eat sauerkraut (which is also very acidic), so now I've been taking it very seriously to rinse out the mouth after the acidic foods.

I got one of them from this page:
http://www.amazon.com/s/?k=glass%20straw
I don't remember exactly which one, and I haven't received it yet, so I can't say if it's good or not.

I also got a straw cleaner, which can be found on the individual straw pages at Amazon (where it says "customers also bought...").

Mine might be in the mailbox now! [Smile] I'm gonna go run and check.

I just ordered a set of 9.5" bent glass straws with brus for 28.- bucks

my teeth are worth it

forgot to get a new water pick on the way home - my old one broke and I don;t use tooth paste, so the water pick was my most important cleaner

don't like the expenses but it is necessary, I think

We have had our daughter drinking lemon water for 18 months with no issue. All this time we have used a water bottle that has the mouthpiece.

I think we were just lucky in this regards or else we'd have had teeth problems.
