Homeopathic Ledum - treats the puncture wound from the bite of the tick, and can help reduce or even prevent Lyme from getting established when taken as soon as possible once the tick bite is discovered.
Anything that boosts the immune system at this point would probably be good (garlic, zinc, vitmain C, etc.)...but call an LLMD Monday, too!

I have the tick. Should I freeze it or leave it alive in a plastic bag with damp tissue? I may have nightmares that it escapes..

I gave him one 500mg of amox. before he went to bed. Unfortunately, I don't have an LLMD anymore, and am not sure that his pediatrician would treat a bite. I will call tomorrow. Thanks.

I wouldn't freeze the tick, but putting it in a ziplock bag (or bag closed securely with a twist-tie) with a damp tissue inside would probably be a good idea. Contact IGeneX if you want more info on what the requirements are for testing a tick.

- If you have a hard plastic bottle with secure lid, that might be best as some ticks have been known to chew through plastic bags. I would also tape around the lid to be safe. -

I read on the treat the bite website last night to put it in the refrigerator. I left a damp
tissue in the bag. It looks like it's almost dead today. But, it still is moving. Anyway,
Clongen lab says that it can be dead, and they can still test it, as long as it is an intact
tick. I'm trying to figure out what to test it for. What is the babesia species, bartonella,
and erlichia species that is prevalent in NY? My son got the tick in NY, close to NJ border.

Talk to your PCP.
When he gives you the IDSA guidelines emplore him and let him know doxy is given as a long course for acne in teenagers.
Dr. B's guidelines are 6 weeks of doxy of 300 to 600 mg.
Remember ticks have more than Lyme and doxy covers most of the TBD (at least gram negative bacteris).

Sorry, I emptied out some messages. I'm taking my son to my PCP, who is more open to things like this. I'm hoping that she will give him some doxy.
I'm still deciding on whether to get the tick tested..

She treated my son...prescribed 6 weeks Doxy/6 days flagyl. Whew.
