No I'm not pregnant and I don't plan on being. However someone I know (who has Lyme) is worried about being pregnant. Which leads me to ask this...

Question for those who have been pregnant after they already knew they had Lyme- I've heard (and experienced but didn't know I had Lyme yet) that the symptoms seem to dissipate (sp???) once you get pregnant.

My question is how fast does that happen. Like for instance- My back pain and high blood pressure went away almost immediately after I knew I was pregnant and then returned as soon as I had the baby.

I've heard other women say their Lyme symptoms disappear or slow down while they are pregnant, just wondering how fast that happens. Anyone know?

I can't remember exactly how long. I knew very early on about the pregnancy (5 weeks) and had some problems with low blood pressure at first but I felt much better for the rest of my pregnancy.

Same as you my back pain was so much better as well as fatigue etc. My symptoms returned after I delivered my baby.

I do think the pregnancy has set me back. I was on a lower dose treatment for an extended period of time and my health now is worse than before I got pregnant. She is 17 months old now. Of course I wouldn't change the pregnancy (though it was unplanned) she has been a light for us in a very dark time.

I hope your friend has a healthy happy baby if she is pregnant.

I had the opposite experience.

I had no idea I had chronic Lyme and co-infections, passed them to 1 daughter and not the other (only breastfed 2nd daughter for 4 days, then 100% formula, personal reasons)

Anyway, obviously no treatment while preggo, and symptoms flared big time- debilitating migraines, chronic fatigue, sick.
Chalked it up to age and my lifestyle.

I felt fantastic by the end of the first trimester...but she should of course treat during pegnancy, not breastfeed, and have the cord blood and placenta tested. Clongen Labs does this. Also For me, my lyme infection/symptoms Flred along with the Bart and Babs about a week or two atfer delivery, which though it was a long one was pretty uneventful and they came back hard and strong. I can't stress enough the importance to not breasteed and to have the tests done. My son came back neg on his tests but because I have an active infection and did not stay on treatment during pregnncy, which I fully regret, he will have to be tested at 6 months by Igenex again. Good luck to your friend and tell her t enjoy the "vacation" while it lasts. I was in denial that it would return and I was sadly wrong. Best of luck.

Your friend should contact the best Lyme-literate pediatrician, Dr. J. He has put together a protocol for pregnant women with Lyme which can be followed with one's own physician.

From what I've read, women go on to have healthy babies.

I'll pm you with Dr. J's contact information.
