I know the supplements help but I am not working +my husband is unemployed-- we are barely staying afloat and seem to be sinking. Christmas is sort of a wash I feel like I should tell my 10 yr old daughter that their isn't a Santa (she is questioning it anyway-- my 18 yr old understands--(l feel like the worst Mom-!!). Any suggestions on where to get cheaper supplements then the Dr's office ??

Sorry you and family are going through such a difficult time. It's really tough enough just having lyme, and then the worries about money, and taking care of family. Most of us here understand.

I've been purchasing most supplements online and find that it's much cheaper. Often I have to substitute the doctor's office brand with a different brand, but I try to match the ingredients and the mg amount.

Two good places to shop online are www.iherb.com and www.vitacost.com Vitacost also offers their own brand which is usually less expensive than the other brands.

Now for your 10-yr-old daughter, have you considered...and I know it might be difficult...to contact a local non-profit agency in your area, to see if they can help with some christmas goodies for her, and your 18-yr=old?

I used to work in non-profits, and I can tell you that there are many people who care and wish to donate items that people going through a rough time can use and enjoy. Places like the YWCA, United Way agencies, Salvation Army, and more.

Take care, and be well.

Juli did a Green Santa--- I sure hope you signed up, because we all would have loved to help with your Christmas. Please let us all know if you need help for gifts and celebratory stuff. I think its really important during these tough times to have those special moments to remind us what life should be about.

With supps, yea, get them online and see if maybe you dont need all of the ones you've been taking. Maybe you can cut them down a bit.

For some of my supps I use swansonvitamins.com. Their prices seem good, quality seems fine, but how do you really know?

If these aren't helpful do a google search for what you need. I also pay attention to the shipping costs, sometimes companies will discount the product but jack up the shipping costs...

I have been in the same boat with not being able to afford all of my supps and not affording the Christmas presents we would like to get. The last couple of years were really tough, but we found 2 old ways to make this time very special. We made more presents, which was really fun and highly appreciated. And then we volunteered to help at the food bank or the soup kitchen. Helping the needy, even for the needy, is a real way to bring back some positive feelings about yourself and the world.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas

I also like to always check out Swansonvitamins.com.
I use their theanine (suntheanine brand, just like in Thorne brand) and it's way way cheaper.
Also, their krill oil is made by Superba, the same as some of the expensive brands.
If you're trying to avoid stearates, then you have to be watchful because they use it in some products.

If you have to cut out some things for awhile. I would definitely not cut out the probiotics. I would also consider taking vit. C for immune system. I was on lots of high dollar supps for immune function. I don't think any of them helped much at all. Vit. C is much cheaper and seems to help some too.

Just my 2 cents. Magnesium is difficult to do without if you get muscle cramps bad too..

But yeah, you can find cheaper vitamins and some of the other supps too. I like swanson. just do a couple searches, or search the supp you are looking for and find who has cheapest price and best quality.

I like Swansons too. The prices are good and the quality seems just as good too.
