I�m Azure Wish�s Mom and I am taking care of her because she is really, really ill and her MCS is beyond severe. Because of the severity of her MCS and food sensitivities, I have to be so careful about anything I use. I have only been able to wash with water for months. I was hoping someone had ideas on a shampoo that is sulfate free, chemical free, essential oil free and vinegar free. Either one I can buy or on I can make.
I tried baking soda and that really messed up my hair. It dried it out and made it brittle. I tried castile soap (fragrance free) and that also messed my hair up. It leaves a film and made it clumpy and oily. I don�t understand why I didn�t use the bar on my hair just a little soap diluted in water.
I was also hoping someone knows what to do about toothpaste. I have been brushing with baking soda but it does not seem to be working that great and I have problems already. It�s really important what I use works because I can�t go to the dentist and be around any smells much less have anything put in my mouth and then come home to the house with her in it.
Toothpaste would also have to be chemical free, sulfate free, essential oil free, vinegar free and floride free.
Also if anyone knows of a soap that is chemical free, sulfate free, essential oil free, and vinegar free.

you can go to www.etsy.com and see if you can find hand-made (custom is possible) soaps and shampoos.
I buy Aubrey Organics at Vitacost for shampoos. And NOW brand toothpaste that is fluoride free. I don't know if these products will meet your criteria though.
i have used only sea salt to brush teeth for 3 yrs and have not had any cavities or other problems
a biol dentist told me to do this
u can also use baking soda to keep them whiter...but i dont need to do that often...the salt even keeps my coffee stains off

- Toothpaste: I just use baking soda (non-aluminum) and let it dissolve a bit on the wet brush for a minute before brushing so that it does not scratch tooth enamel.
I then floss, and brush again with GSE, a grapefruit seed extract (Seed-a-Dent) and when swish. The GSE is good for the gums. It can also be used with water as a mouth rinse.

My Mom likes to use food-grade hydrogen peroxide diluted in a glass of water for brushing her teeth, and she also says that keeps her gums pretty healthy too.
I would think a little baking soda and/or xylitol crystals could be added to the peroxide, or on the toothbrush after dipping in the peroxide.
For skin moisturizing, I love organic butter...it heals my skin way faster than any other substance or lotion I've ever tried, and it is free of fragrance, gluten, preservatives, sulfates, and just about everything else bad...
The shampoo (Giovanni Tea Tree shampoo & conditioner) & toothpaste (Spry fluoride-free mint) I use contain herbs or essential oils, so not sure those would work...
Baking soda is what my husband uses to scour the bathroom, and I use it in the kitchen sink. It works pretty well. Then I spray the fixtures with an essential oils based household cleaner, but one could achieve the same germ-killing with plain vinegar.
I find I react to something in 7th Generation products, but am still somewhat ok with Planet laundry soap and hand dishwashing soap.
Haven't found a dishwashing machine soap that actually gets the dishes clean and that I can handle...so I hand-wash everything.
California Baby makes a fragrance free, gluten-free, sulfate-free shampoo & body wash that is also pretty good. But they also have fragranced items, so make sure you read the label very carefully...

Check the Skin Deep Cosmetics database by the Environmental Working Group for overall health. I suggest Keys Soap brand, "Mangrove" shampoo. It is by far the most healthful and actually useful I've found to date, but it does have oils - the question is if they will bother her or not; for many even with MCS, Keys products work well. Check them out at www.keys-soap.com . They have the best, organic ingredients and nothing extra. Many MCS patients are sensitive to artificial fragrances and low quality "essential oils" that are faux, filler laden artificial products but have no problem with "real" products should they be introduced properly.
For toothpaste, it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. There are a variety of fluoride free toothpastes out there, but many lack actual effectiveness. "The Natural Dentist" makes a good line of useful mouth hygiene products but if you're worried about fluoride, some of their products use it while others do not.
Homemade compounds may be your best bet if store-bought are unable to be tolerated, but make sure you research.

As Blackstone mentions the issue of parabens, etc. that the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database details, I'm glad that you have that info.
Rachel's Friends is another group of similar mission.
Although very MCS safe, regarding no scents, the Magick line I posted above does contain stuff I'd rather not have, so I was able to pull away from that and use paraben/petroleum, etc. free with
Avalon Organics, shower gel, hand soap, lotion in only either Lemon or Peppermint. NOT the lavender.
Avalon Organics has no petroleum ingredients.
For some reason, even in some of the MCS folks who can tolerate lemon or mint (when from REAL extracts) . . . lavender can really clobber, big time.
The Mango that Blackstone suggests might be one possibility. I recall a Japanese Cucumber shower gel that I've done okay with but can't recall the brand.
But, no matter how slight the scent, Jason products clobber me.
