I have searched and read numerous posts by many of you whom I trust about varied reactions to clindamycin.
I am starting a regimen tomorrow that is pulsed--clindamycin/qualaquin, then flagyl/zith/plaquenil. The second pulse I have done before, and while it doesn't sound fun, at least I know what to expect.
I am doubling my probiotics (I take Ortho Biotics by Ortho Molecular, and it combines 20 billion CFU of acidophilus with 2 billion sacc. boul.).
I am also recommitting myself to completely sugar free, as I have been allowing myself potatoes at times, honey, and 85% dark chocolate. I have made soups ahead to eat at work for lunches, and we stocked up on vegetables, high fiber fruits, and healthy proteins.
If anyone has any further tips for avoiding C. diff. and staying as healthy as possible, I am certainly open to advice!

Personally, I'm not sure if 20 billion will be enough to protect you long term.
I would add some VSL#3 if you can. It has 225 billion probiotics per 2capsules. That will help prevent antibiotic associated diarrhea.
I use VSL#3 Double Strength packets and Nystatin tablets daily (both prescription). One VSL packet has 900 billion bacteria. I have not had any problems with yeast.

Thanks for posting this, I am also interested in the responses. I'm new to Lyme and started clindamycin recently. I wasn't aware of a lot of side effects prior to taking it. I'll have to do a search myself!
I'm taking 300mg 4 times per day and some of my symptoms got a lot worse, others stayed the same and others appeared. The most noticeable symptoms are spaciness, small joint pain, extreme exhaustion/muscle weakness and increased dizziness so far. I haven't had any gastrointestinal side effects.
I also eliminated sugar a few months ago. I'm not sure if that has helped at all yet.

I took clindamycin 150mg orally for 5 years - it stopped my fibromyalgia muscle pain and joint swelling, and I never had any C diff problems. It simply stopped working for me after 5 years and now I do teasel root tincture and curcumin capsules.
My suggestion for starting anything new - start slowly to make sure you can handle it.

I've taken clindamycin IV for two years, and feel it is extremely effective.
I could not tolerate it orally as it caused GI issues. You should know immediately if you can tolerate it orally. If you can take it orally, it's a great drug, and much easier than IV.

Thank you, everyone, for the input. I took my first dose this morning, and aside from nausea, it went ok. I take two tomorrow.
I am taking 4 of my probiotic pills a day, and I may up it further. I am going to talk with my compounding pharmacist about it (he's pretty great).
I have heard good things about the effectiveness of the combination, so long as it is tolerated.

I responded very well to Clindy. Actually the only ABX to date that I felt ok on.
My LLMD says Clindamycin shouldn't be taken long term as your bones need a break. I took it for 10 days then took a break for 10 days.
