I had this Candida Panel ran. There are 8 pages of results. I'm just pasting a few pages here. I was told this was not just Candida, but also a general sense of body Inflammation.

What do I do about this other then Flaxseed Oil, Bromalain, Omega 3's, and Diet change. These numbers are crazy !!!

Wondering if this is why I Herx so hard and perhaps the Encephalpathy / Encephalitis I feel so much, so often.

My LLMD wrote me for Actos to take with the Cholestyramine today. The Actos is suppose to decrease the Cytokine response.

I'm really thinking this might be the reason I can't treat too hard for too long and always have to back off everything I do.

Please Share your thoughts with me. The test was done by Pharmasan Labs (Neuroscience). Medicare approved and payed for by Medicare.

If anyone is interested in looking at the entire test, I uploaded it here:

Very interesting. Did not include all the interleukins that I expected. Looks like your LPS associated reading was off the charts. Do you suppose this might stand for lipopolysaccharide? If it does, this is not lyme because it has lipoprotein instead. I would be looking for an explanation of what that one result means.

I think mold can do this. survivingmold.com

What I should have included in my post above is that borrelia have lipoproteins on their surface, not lipopolysaccarides, as some other gram negative bacteria have. These surface chemicals provoke the immune response.

But it is not clear what that LPS in your lab results might include. Could it be that it really is measuring both kinds of surface chemicals? Seems like this would be very important to find out, since it might determine what kind of bacteria are involved (not to species, but whether they were spirochetes or not.)

Any chance you could contact the lab and ask a technical person this question? It might be that they don't know either. Or the answer they give you might not be correct.

Checked with the lab website, and I think the LPS can be disregarded as an indication of some other bacteria instead of lyme. Not to say you couldn't have other bacteria too. But this category on their results page seems to be inclusive. And elevated IL-6 is typical of lyme apparently. Someone really needs to do a lot of this testing and then summarize and publish the results.

Here is their explanation of the kind of inflammatory response that is produced in lyme patients:

And when I looked at your pdf, there were other cytokines tested for, but they had normal results.

Poppy, thank you for researching this for me. I didn't even see that page.

I consulted w the Immunologist today from the lab. She told me that my results are very common w Lyme & Co. Many of the markers are NOT Candida related, however, it does appear that Candida is a problem, not surprised.

The Cytokines in that .pdf file were not all tested for, and perhaps I can run another panel that would better correspond to Lyme itself.

In the end, I'm told this is a ton of Inflammation, but very Non-Specific.

Just high numbers to create more panic. I wonder if Babesia can express itself with some of these Cytokines as I'm PCR positive.

Thanks again for the leg work.

You're welcome. I am interested in this subject too. Had cytokine test 4 or 5 years ago at a hospital in western state. It showed nothing out of the ordinary, so ever since then I have wondered how accurate cytokine testing was, and whether they tested for everything that might be involved. If this is an inflammatory disease, then all of us should show some.

Here is an article on cytokines and babesia. But it is about acute disease. Don't know if it would be different from chronic babesia.

Since most of us are coinfected, the question is how much inflammation is due to each infection, and how would you even know?
