I sometimes have plain yogurt for breakfast with shaved almonds. I also take my abx in the am.... should I space the ABX away from the yogurt? Is the yogurt a true probiotic? I have been taking ABX upon wake up and eating about 1/2 hr later

I would space the ABX away from the yogurt. Yogurt is a true probiotic, but my LLMD says that it is not enough to counteract the affects of all the antibiotics I will be on shortly, so the doc prescribed probiotics in pill form that were stronger.

I love yogurt. That sounds like a good breakfast.

The way you are doing it, the antibiotic is killing the live yogurt cultures. That is OK just so long as you don't care about not having the live yogurt cultures.

Yogurt is a probiotic, so if you want it to help your gut, you will have to take the antibiotics at least 2 hours away from the yogurt.

Maybe eat a little of something else. Then, later eat the yogurt.

I'd say eat the yogurt, but don't count on it to provide much of the good bacteria for your intestines.

However, the calcium in it can bind with some things and lessen the effects of doxycycline.

Things I like for breakfast:
Hard cooked eggs
Bean burritoes
Oatmeal

As Carol stated and it was my first thought, too:

the calcium in the yogurt can also negate many antibiotics, keeping them from being absorbed. May as well just flush them.

In addition to Carol's culinary suggestions:

Lentil Soup; Chicken Soup; Vegetables being in abundance, of course. Drizzle of Olive oil, or for a curry or with "morning" kind of spices, coconut oil.

With garden herbs and spices, you can season in a million different ways. Really. Well, at least a thousand.

Cardamom & Nutmeg are especially nice for a breakfast soup.

Thanks everyone! I sometimes have eggs, since they are quick and easy, and also give me the grease I need for the Mepron. I guess I'll either take the ABX later, or have the yogurt later. I have a smoothie with probiotics every day when I get home. Maybe I could have it then.

I feel like I need more gut support. I have been getting queasy stomach more often lately. Gas too.
