For those who have done well on Rifampin, how long were you on it? Thanks.

Better work on that immune system while the Rifampin suppresses most of the Bartonella.

Transfer Factor
Kefir
Modulating herbs
Mushrooms
Adaptogens

First time, two months with brief improvement.
This time I am in my 13th month. I am doing really well.

joysie, are you on intravenous or oral??

Posted by jlcd1 (Member # 18138) on :

I took oral for about a year straight. Took a month off to try bactrim, (allergic) and another month to try cipro, (could only handle a month).

Once I added the zith in with the rifampin I felt awesome for a good 2 months.

Then I had to stop 2 weeks ago to treat babs, and now my feet hurt. But I feel really good while on it. After treating babs I'm going back on it.

Good luck!

3 months so far. Doing well, but think I'm starting to plateau. P.S. Remember to take more D-3 (rifampin depletes it).

Do people find their Lyme is more treatable after Bart/Rifampin therapy? I've found that.

Does anyone ever kick bart? Seems like it never goes away. I wish gentamicin didn't have so many horrible side effects.

You beat Bartonella by bouncing your immune system back (and it keeps Bart at bay)

You will never kill every last Bartonella bacteria.
(same goes for Lyme)

Cane - sounds good in theory, but have you done it?

Is this where the Bionic would come in well... helping to boost the immune system? I too have had bart for too long and my miracle drug was levaquin combined with rifampin-- no feet pain-- however, the levaquin was beginning to cause tendon issues so I was taken off of it and now just on Rifampin with some HH and Abart. One would think I will be able to beat this with all that is being thrown at it. I agree totally with Cane...

I am seeing a doctor here who is trying to get the best out of my immune system by healing my gut- leaky gut etc using the GAPS diet. It is online and is helping I really believe a lot. For me, once the bart has been knocked down, the lyme is coming out to play. I am back on doxy and it is kicking me.

Cane-- my immune system is over sensitive-- is there anything you would recommend to help it? Thanks...

I was on doxy plus azi plus rifa for one year and bartonella is still active. And 5 years of atb before this combo. I really would like to know, how much is enough, too.

dan67,

You're right - it's easier said than done.
No I haven't done it.

But similar to HIV patients (with dis-regulated CD4/CD8 ratios) opportunistic infections will never get under control without the immune system.

Even abxs can only suppress it for so long.
Bart develops resistance better than any of these infections.

I'd look into parasites, metals, KPU, and Transfer Factor

willbeatthis,
Yes, look into Buhner's herbs

I have a PERL rife machine and it definitely hits bart, but it is somewhat inconsistent as to the results. Sometimes it knocks my bart symptoms out for 1-3 days. Amazing, and good to give body rest from drugs. And rife I think teaches the immune system if you do it off abx, because it wrecks the bugs and their antigens get thrown off and immune response ensues.

I wonder if someone who uses the abx AND rife + photon treatment might be able to kick bart.

I've already done KPU, and I've been cleaning metals for years.

I AM getting better slowly. I've done two rounds of Rifampin. I pleateau after 4 weeks. But after that, Lyme is more responsive to thinks like Tinidazole. I'm going to start a new round of zith, doxy, rifampin for 4-8 weeks. So far repeated use of rifampin has not caused any resistance but I suspect it will some day.

On the other hand I think the bart I treat next hasn't seen rifampin yet as it is burried "deep" in layers of infection that were not exposed previously.

I would like to think the development of Bart resistance to Rifampin is biofilm formation instead of gene mutation.

If this is true, by removing biofims, Bart may become sensitive to Rifampin again.

I have been now using Tween 20 to remove biofilms while on Levaquin and Salt/C and I got bad Herx today with flu-like symptoms:headache and neck pains.

I hope this is a indication that this strategy is working

dan,

I've used Rife (The Coil) for Bart and it def hit Bart for me (brought relief)... but ultimately for me it wasn't enough.

Bart reproduces too quickly and my immune system wasn't built enough to keep it at bay.

I would think that Rife and Bionic do not kill Bart rather improve poor blood circulation caused by biofilms

Nah, it kills the active bacteria.

Kills spirochetes as well. I've had tremendous herxes from the Coil and symptom relief after it cleared.

In fact I don't have very many Lyme symptoms anymore since coiling for 9 months. (granted the fall and spring flares will need to be dealt with)

Was on doxy for 7 months. Stopped for a few then back on for another 5-6. Stopped again to have anxiety return (Bart). Went on Rifampin and zithf for almost 7 months and doing really well. Just last week the anxiety returns with nausea. Started doxy again and after 3 days it's night and day. Was Lyme coming out to play agin? P.S CD57 was 44 in November.

manybites,

Your description is very interesting. I also had diarrhea today after I added Rifampin 600mg to Levaquin 600mg plus Salt/C/Tween-20. I don'r remember if I had diarrhea since I got sick 6 years ago.

Last night the stomach was very bad. Today, it seems the Bart symptoms got better for first time in 6 years!

So targeting biofilms while on abx probably is the right path for me.

I tried one bottle of Rechts-Regulat enzymes without obvious effects.

What enzymes you are on?

Thanks.

Dave
