I recently have developed Tinnitus (VERY LOUD), also dizziness.

I know that it is most likely from all of the meds but I noticed that I developed some problems with my ears after using my Sauna.

Has anyone every experienced tinnitus from Infrared sauna. Or possibly a combination of the abx and sauna.

I know that sounds crazy.

It sounds like a toxicity issue to me. Liver support - and adrenal support should both help but really rest as long a possible.

Replenish minerals and electrolytes, water, etc.

Beta Carotene can help if the problem is excess porphyrins caused by toxicity. Leafy greens, orange veggies, etc.

Arnica homeopathic may help, too.

It could be too much heat or time - remember that exertion can increase tinnitus.

Or you may be reacting to some of the components of the unit.

Not sure of the brand, composition, etc. but if there are any plastic parts at all (CD player, etc., you might remove as much plastic or vinyl as possible). Hot petroleum products are very toxic and that can increase tinnitus.

The stains and glues used in some models are toxic. Again, it would depend upon your model.

If there is any manufactured wood products, anywhere on the unit, that, too, might be a cause.

Thanks Keebler! I think all of the wood is good cedar.

I will do the minerals and electrolytes.

Try to rest but the noise is so loud its difficult to sleep. That's one of the scariest things about this.

Haley,

CEDAR & MCS

Not sure if you have MCS (Multiple chemical sensitivities). If so, it may be helpful to know (but I hate to be the one to say) that cedar can be a problem for some folks who have MCS.

Adrenal support, the more calming kinds like Holy Basil, Milky Oat Seed, Schizandra, Fish Oil and Magnesium are the best.

Even if rest is hard, try to be in a dark room with soft music. Best to avoid TV, computers, phones and especially headphones.

I'm a real Masterpiece Theatre fan and a new serious starts tonight. There may be some war scenes with noise but, generally, if you feel you must watch TV, go for PBS or DVD of sedate films, travel, etc.

Try to turn down the brightness and the backlight on the TV.

Avoid fluorescent lights, too.

It helps me to put my hand over my heart and just feel the warmth as I slowly breathe in and out. That is very good to try to lower the cortisol that is likely elevated from your "heat bath"

Could be that morning will be much better. I hope you have a good night's sleep.

I've not talked about the abx. You mentioned it. I assume it's nothing new but, even if not, the ones that cause most trouble with tinnitus are:

Zithromax; minocycline and sometimes Biaxin. If you are on any of those, or thing ANY Rx you are taking has zoomed the tinnitus up, DO talk with your LLMD tomorrow. You may need a change.

B-6 can also help calm tinnitus from abx ototoxicity. And that is why liver support is so vital, too.

You said it sounded crazy to think that the heat could cause tinnitus.

I forgot to address that. I hate to hear anyone say any symptom is "crazy" as it's not, at all.

I've had the same thing happen from baths that were too hot or too long and from many different kinds of exertion (as well as from certain Rx, etc.)

That's how I know this is not just a matter of the ears, or a matter of chemical exposure (for those with MCS, the cedar can be a "chemical") . . .

Tinnitus also involves the liver, nerve cells that are over excited, weak adrenals, maybe the various nervous systems, etc. It's very complex, really.

So, really, your experience is certainly well within normalcy for what's on your plate.

Take care.

Thanks again so much Keebler. You are incredibly helpful. I thank God for you.

I don't think I have MCS.

I chose to stay on 100mg of minocycline only as I didn't know this contributes to tinnitus. I am so glad you mentioned this, I see my doc on Wednesday. I will discuss this with him.

I think it was IV Flagyl that got me, even though I had no problems in the past with this. I'm still praying that the noise will go away.

Praying for all of us.

GIGI (our resident heavy metal specialist) has mentioned that FIR sauna mobilizes heavy metals. Tinnutus, dizzyness and many other symptoms can be caused by heavy metals being released into the system.

Consider using a heavy metal binder preferably under the care of a doctor.

The only treatment I ever did that had an impact on my tinnitus was exposure to a PEMF machine - pulsed electromagnetic machine -

we hold a white coil as it puts out electromagnetic pulses. Took my pain down, and tinnitus away for 6 hours, during which time I was amazed at how quiet the world could be!

One well-known LLMD said it probably quieted down the nerves.

Thanks Terry and Robin.

heavy metals is a possibility.

robin - Did the ringing stay away or did it come back with the same intensity?

Increased circulation due to FIR sauna can move anything, anything, anywhere, anywhere. Because of that, Sauna should only be done at a certain time in the detox process.

I have been posting on this subject for many years: heavy metals are always part of the chronic disease process. Getting totally well is not possible as long as the body is "contaminated". KPU is a big factor for the majority of us dealing with Lyme and other infections.

Lowering the toxic burden has to be done right alongside addressing the bacterial and other infections, beginning with parasites.

Check out my recent post "Four Steps". It is the most important part of the protocol as taught by Dr. K.

Take care.
