My LLMD wants to have a PICC line placed, but wants my local doc to order it and keep an eye on it. But my local docs are not LLMD's and dont agree with long term ABX. My LLMD is not associated with a hospital so they wont take her picc line order directly. How did you do it? Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you better check around with other lyme people in your area and see if you can find a more supportive GP.
If the lyme doc will Rx the PICC, though, you can go to a free standing radiology office and they will probably do it for you, instead of using a hospital.

Check all of your local hospitals. Even though your LLMD isn't associated, you may find one who will put in the PICC and you will receive your first dose there to make sure your not allergic to it. Then if you can find a visiting nurse who will draw blood and clean your picc once a week, thats probably the route you can go. Thats what my husband does. And you will have to have your blood drawn periodically. We were fortunate. The 2nd hospital that I called put his PICC in.

I tried going to and independent radiology clinic and they wouldn't do it. Ill keep trying hospitals ;(.

They have to accept the order from your LLMD. If they will start the PICC from him, they will do the first dose of whatever your lyme doc orders. Feel free to PM me

Best thing to do, is to get in touch with a local infusing pharmacy they will bend over backwards to help you get your pic,so you can buy their meds,they know all the tricks so start so there, good luck

We are in the process of beginning a PICC Line for myself.
They arrange everything for you once they receive the physician referral form.

Yes, I had to fire my PCP that I had been seeing for ten years. He provided my initial treatment upon seeing my EM Rash with the standard Doxy 200mg/day for 30 days and that was it. A few years later my symptoms started to flare and he sent me thru the normal specialist route from neuro, to rhuemo, etc.
Finally ended up with a LLMD and clinical diagnosis. My PCP and Rhuemo did not support the Lyme diagnosis and the Doxy treatment had cured that, but they couldn't agree on anything else except possible Fibro or Depression. I kept them both informed on my ABX treatment but at each office visit with them they said I was lucky I'm not dead yet from the ABX protocols.
So I had to fire them both and found another PCP that at least acknowledged Chronic Lyme and keeps tabs on all my lab reports.
