I've been having female problems since being diagnosed with lyme 2.5 years ago. I have been spotting (for about 2 days) in between my periods.

In July 2011 I had a large ovarian cyst; I had surgery and they also removed my ovary. I was also diagnosed with endometriosis.

I have been on the pill ever since to "regulate" my periods. Yet, I STILL spot in the middle of my periods!

I go back to my gyno next month, and I plan to also ask my llmd about this.

Do any of you have this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have a similar issue. I don't get my period for at least 8 weeks and when I do, it lasts very lightly for 2 days. This has been going on for years though. For me it's considered "normal."

The spotting happened to me, and my GYN ordered an ultrasound. Turned out to be a very large polyp. Thankfully, it was benign, but I needed a D&C to remove.

Definately get it checked out.

I have this every single month since july mid cycle. It lasts for like 4 or 5 days. And i get my period still right on time. I have had 3 ultrasounds and nothing shows up. It is very worrisome and freaks me out since i really dont trust doctors after all this lyme stuff. Is there anything else i should be asking for if the ultrasound looks good.? Would you just assume its lyme?

I had an ultrasound in July (due to all this spotting) and it showed a large cyst. I had the cyst removed, and yet I'm still spotting between periods.

I'll go for another ultrasounds next month but this seems to be "normal" for me.

Undiagnosed ~ my story now sounds similiar to yours.

How is your weight? I get this if I get too thin.

Have you had your thyroid checked? I now have issues with my period not wanting to stop and since they have been for reverse T3 being too high, that seems to have resolved.

I had this. I had bad spotting between my periods, and at once point I just had bleeding for an entire month. I got an ultrasound done, and nothing showed up, so my doctor just put me on birth control. Mentioned it once to LLMD, but he never commented.

However, I think I might have a thyroid problem. I've had a lot of the symptoms, but although one blood test showed an elevated TSH and a lowish...T2? (Basically I was working hard to produce just enough thyroid), the second test came up in the normal range, and my GP dropped it.

I spoke with my llmd about this today and said that lyme definitely causes hormonal imbalances.

I'm going to have my hormones checked.

I have endometriosis and adenomyosis - had surgery last year to remove some. I was great after surgery but this past summer I started feeling sick again, and now my endo pains are back. So is my lyme, with a raging vengeance. They are definitely connected.

I get periods now even though I have been on continous BC pills since Nov 2002. So I definitely think lyme is involved because I keep bleeding even though I'm not supposed to be!

Endo pains are back for me as well - I had laparoscopy done awhile ago but still feel horrible every month.

BC pills are known to cause bleeding between cycles as a side-effect.

A comprehensive hormone level evaluation with a Naturopathic or Integrative Physician who is familiar with balancing female hormones may be more helpful than dealing with traditional OB/GYN's.

Yes, I agree that Lyme/co's can really mess with hormones. So can many medications (not just bc pills; some abx interact with some bc pills, also).
