I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled on the 26th. I'll be under general anesthetic.

I have all 4, and two of them are at odd angles that make them hard to remove (and have deep roots).

One of them has a root that is impinging on the nerve canal in my jaw (and giving my "zingers")

The after-effects of both the surgery and the anesthetic make me nervous.

Lyme already gives me tons of jaw pain, head pain (mostly related to the muscles around my jaw) and neck pain.

Plus I have had TERRIBLE muscle pain lately, and a side-effect of general anesthesia is muscle pain.

Has anyone here had their wisdom teeth out while they are still relatively ill with Lyme?

Do you have any strategies for mitigating pain? Should I expect a lot more pain?

I had mine out while I was ill with lyme. I had all 4 removed, 2 of which had to be cut out.

I did fine!

I think the recovery time for me took a little longer but I did not have any terrible pain, just took longer to heal.

However, I chose to not be put under, I just had local anesthesia. I did not feel a thing!

Have you ever tried anxiety pills for jaw pain?

When mine gets really bad, I take a very low dose of xanax and it really helps my muscles relax.

Hope this helps you!

I had impacted wisdom teeth & 2 were removed a long time ago - pre-Lyme. They usually give you pain medications for a few days. Many years ago, they gave me codine. Someone told me to have them packed with goldenseal powder but I forget if I actually did that.

It's not fun but it should be OK. I have to have another wisdome tooth removed, too. It's my last one & I'm not looking forward to it. I believe you should only get 2 out at a time - on the same side - so, you can chew on the other side.

I don't know what else to say. Maybe others will have more advice for herbs or treatments...

Oh man... I don't want to scare you but I had mine out a few months ago and had a completely miserable time (but I think that's because my oral surgeon was horrendous). I'm still dealing with a numb lip (which has gotten better but is still not 100%) and I had recurring infections in the sockets. My best advice to you is to FINISH your antibiotic that you are given - I feel like I really skimped out on mine which was a huge mistake and the sockets didn't heal properly. Good luck, you will be fine. You seem like you definitely NEED them out and that you aren't getting them out for the heck of it, so to avoid future problems, you are making the right decision.
