My son is being treated for babesia. His primary symptom is motor tics and a facial twitch. Since Nov he has been on Azith, Mepron and Tindamax. Though he has been treated for years prior with dual antibiotics for Lyme with no improvement. His tics have improved on this babesia regime. Last week his llmd discontinued the tindamax since my son had developed horrible reflux. Within a day of stopping his tics worsened and his dry cough that began with treatment increased. Friday evening he took 1 drop of Bab-1 and another drop Saturday morning. By the afternoon he was crying with neck pain and a headache. He calmed down with distractions, ate dinner and took his meds. However he threw up his dinner before bedtime but went to sleep okay. Then he woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible headache and fever of 100. He took Advil and woke up with no fever, slight headache but now he says his throat hurts. Does this sound like a herx from bab-1 or a virus? Thanks for any help!

In my opinion, when it comes to kids I think you should always call your doctor when in doubt.
We have a lot of educated members here but, I think we owe it to our kids to always get a doctors opinion on their hearth issues.

My son was treated at 7 and suffered too .He had refluzes as he was born with bartonella.His throat hurted everytime BART will raise its ugly head.
He suffered through the entire treatement for months and he could not even detox but overtime he felt better and he could handle the dosages.The problem is that he started in full dosage but now is better to start it slowly and increase based on body`s tolerance.
Ironicly he still have babs and he was only in Azithr , Mepron and added the last 2 months of treatment artemisin. Babs is still there .While treating babs , BArt raised the ugly head .I used HH capsules and Knotweed or BArt 1 for bart .They are still in his little body.None has been eradicated.

I agree about calling your doctor when in doubt.
I would also look into the possibility that he has G.I. parasites which is a common co-infection often overlooked even by LLMDs.
Since he is still sick after a long time on abx, I would check the symptom list at Humaworm and maybe even try some of their herbs for children.
One mos is not enough tx even tho the wesite suggests that. I would also do a search on here and on line for parasites.
Antiparasitics and salt/c got rid of my babs and bart as well after 4 yrs of abx did not.

Does the dr have an answering service? Sometimes it is nice to get sme help and not wait.
I have said it many times to others who have children with Lyme- it must be so hard, God bless you.
