my ribs don't hurt much unless i press on them gently with a finger. like they've been severely bruised or something. nothing ever showed up in past x-rays. another lyme mystery?

I had that years ago. I can't remember if it is borellia or bart but it is lyme related. Seems to me like it is a borellia thing.

I have that. Along with frequent stabbing pain which feels like it's either the bones of my ribs or underneath. I'm not sure what causes it.

thanks guys. i have the same thing on my scalp-if i put my knuckles to it there are spots that are sooo tender-no, actually very painful.

The rib pain is called costochondritis. It is inflammation of the cartilage, and it can be extremely painful.
There are many of us here who have it, or have had it, throughout our journey. It was my very first symptom.
I don't know with which disease it is associated, but it definitely gets worse when I am either treating babs or cystic lyme.
I can't take NSAIDs, so I use heat when I need relief. Since about three months into treatment, I have only needed heat a couple of times. When I do have pain flares, they are substantially less painful.
If you have any chest pain, you certainly should check with your doctor. I only felt truly comfortable with the costochondritis diagnosis after seeing a cardiologist to rule out heart problems.

Sorry you have it too rera2528-I thought costochondritis was when your rib cage hurt when you took a deep breath in.
No chest pain, mine doesn't hurt that way, this is like the actual bony ribs that hurt when pressed. I have a lot of fibro pain. All cardiac tests were negative so it must be inflammation and/or the disease itself. Thanks!

I have costo also . I take 800 mg ibuprofen ( 4 capsules ) which is a high dose because the pain is severe. I also feareda heart issue because it felt like a bruise on sternum between breasts .
It is infection of cartilege and common w/ lyme CFIDS . Unfortunately , it can be viral, fungal, or bacterial underlying .
I take : ibuprofen olive leaf extract ( kills many pathogens fungal , viral, or bacterial) 6 capsules daily for three days Or cats claw ( 6 capsules daily for 3 days ) VIT C helps with infections garlic - it hurts so much I will chop up and chew fresh garlic A heating pad, or vicks vapor rub can be soothing . It is an infection, and it causes inflammation= PAIN!! I also have pain with each breath and terrible fatigue .
The things I listed really do help the pain and my immune system kick the infection which inflames the cartilege .
