If you don't want the IDSA guidelines to be blocking your way to getting treatment- SIGN ON NOW!!!!!
Lymedisease.org (formerly CALDA) is taking the lead on this effort, so we know it is a good deal for us.
Link to petition is below... (I would advise clicking the anonymous button before submitting your name- safety first!)
LYMEPOLICYWONK: SIGN THE PETITION TO TAKE DOWN THE IDSA GUIDELINES!
24 Jan
Medical treatment guidelines are tremendously important in determining your treatment options. All important treatment guidelines are listed by the National Guidelines Clearinghouse (NGC), which is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Its the governments way of providing updated information about different diseases to health care professionals. NGCs own rules require that listed guidelines be updated every 5 years.
I was number "3046"

5004 as of now!!
I imagine the 5000th person must have had a special pleasure in doing so, and of course, following everyone else who came to the site to cast their vote against guidelines that don't work for anyone -
time to move on, as they say in Moveon and lots of other organizations for social justice...

Has CALDA had any credibility with the powers that be over the years? Obviously, I know the guidelines have not been amended, but does this organization yield any power with any important government agencies to sway things at all?
Posted by Tincup (Member # 5829) on :
7790 people signed this petition! We are getting there!
Lightfoot- good to see you! You too puppy! Thanks!!

CALDA- now Lymedisease.org- is highly credible. The fact you even know what Lyme disease is, well, you can thank them for it. Why not read about them on their website?
They have done an incredible amount of work, non-stop, since the late 1980's to help sick patients, get doctors trained, work on legislation and educate the public.
I think the power they have to sway things, as you eluded to, is the truth.
They don't roll around in the mud and play kissy-face like others may do to sway people to their side, they do the honorable thing and present the facts and they don't give up.
And the best thing is... they are willing to do it.
Not many people or organizations have put in that many years working to help millions of people they don't even know.... out of the kindness of their hearts.
Have you signed the petition yet? It is something everyone, no matter how sick you are, can do!
Is there a magic number we need or just the more the better?
Back up!

8,538 people signed this petition.
If we are going to get the 10,000 by midnight on Groundhog Day, we need to send the petition out to more folks!
If everyone sent it to 10 people with a personal request to sign on, and they sent it to ten more... wow!
Abxnomo- Other than my hopes of getting the 10,000 ASAP... no number needed.... but, you are right, the more the better!

GROUNDHOG DAY PREDICTION
If Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow on Groundhog Day, legend says we will have six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see it, spring is just around the corner!
BUT.... Phil, who lives in highly endemic Pennsylvania, told me if he comes out of his den for his midnight snack on Feb 2 and sees less than 10,000 signatures on the petition to bury the IDSA guidelines, he will start biting everyone who didn't sign on!
The good news is... if there are more than 10,000 signatures he will only bite the IDSA guideline authors! Sounds like a deal to me! ~smile~
Please sign the petition and get everyone you know to sign it! Getting more signatures surely beats having to hide from an angry groundhog and deal with the IDSA any longer!
Since you are in Alabama, you might want to know...
I am hearing some rumblings from General Lee- the southern groundhog weather predictor. Waiting on an official message from him now. Will post when it arrives!
As of now 8,595 people have signed this petition!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Thanks to you, in less than one week the petition got over 9,000 signatures!!!
That is totally amazing! I love it when the community comes together for a good cause- one designed to help each other.
Thank you!
Now, can you get us some more so we have 10,000 by Thursday night when Pux Phil goes for his midnight snack?
Bet ya can!

Hens you are too funny!
OK, special message from General Lee....
```````````````````````````````````````````
General Beauregard Lee, PhD., the Southern Groundhog Weather Predictor based out of Atlanta, said to tell you there will be an early spring this year in the south!
He is sorry Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania wasn't able to predict the same for the rest of the country.
General Lee said he is VERY pleased to know we now have over 9,000 signatures on the petition and he wanted to thank you very much for your efforts so far.
He is concerned though that there may not be 10,000 signatures by midnight tonight- Groundhog Day.
He said he would write people directly to ask them to sign on, but as you know, he is not allowed to have a computer or phone in his den, only a TV.
He said if you could help get the 10,000 signatures on the petition by tonight (tweet, facebook, email, phone calls, whatever), he would personally send a message to the guideline authors saying "Kiss My Grits!"
We need about 300 more people (as of now) to make it to 10,000.
Let the joyous news be spread! The wicked old guidelines at last are dead!
Posted by Tincup (Member # 5829) on :
Uh oh. Got a problem. The petition site had a glitch and the last 4,000 who signed on will have to re-enter their information.
Not really! Just fooling!
BUT, now that the groundhogs are dancing up a storm... we need to revisit the original goal. We hoped for a certain number by Valentine's Day.... but...
You blew that goal away in the first few days and we focused on Groundhog Day goals!
And wouldn't you know, Cupid is not too happy now that we are ignoring his special "love" day. I figured that out when the bright pink arrow came zooming past my head this morning, hit the kitchen clock and the attached note slipped to the floor.
Before I get back to Stupid, I mean Cupid, do you have any ideas on how to get more signatures, or how many you think we can get?
Let me know!
Posted by Abxnomore (Member # 18936) on :
Sending this back up. We desperately need more signatures.
Please pass this on to every one in your address book if you have not yet done so and ask them to pass it along.
